It's quite amazing to see how intact some of the machinery is! Some of the hoses on the machines look in fairly good condition! Great video! Would really enjoy exploring there! Thanks for sharing with us.

I really enjoyed this video, as I used to live in this area in 1996-1997, somehow missed it. I did try driving up Indian Wells Canyon at that time but roads were too gnarly for my 2WD Toyota truck. Doing research on CDMG's Mines and Mineral Resources of Kern County, Calif., I read that the Sieberts family was involved in this area in 1930's-1950's. Good for them, exploiting natural resources to make a living. The Magnolia Mine was a gold and tungsten mine, and the Nadeau Mine was a gold mine. This was a junior mine as they say. I see in the video a Ball Mill at 6:31, and at 7:06 is a shaker or jig device, using shaking to separate gold from concentrates. Also you show a large vat with a propeller. This is a cyanide vat for use possibly in the flotation process? The gold-bearing crushed ore is added to a dilute cyanide solution where they agitate it, then allowed to settle, the solution is drained off to be processed in a zinc-lead precipitation process, which product is then smelted. Keep on going!

Thank you for the information! Even today 4WD would be recommended for the last bit of road. I believe you are correct about the equipment and the cyanide flotation makes sense and would certainly explain why it was so far away from the rest of the camp :)

It looked like a wire ladder by the spring. It was near where the mine was maybe covered up intentionally and you showed the tracks in the wet sand.

You have no idea man! There was free mill gold there and lots of quartz veins popping through everywhere surrounding the mine! I had my gold bug 2 in the car but not enough time to break it out. A return trip is certainly in order.

you sweep at all with I think a gold bug is what I saw on 1 video might be she-lite (tungston ore) all over the place pat says tungston ore there is usually gold maybe don't know if I spelled she-lite right the one big drum with the gear around it is a ball mill for crushing ore

That truck that is on it's side looks to be some kind of air compressor
@Oidium454 жыл бұрын
I was so busy being impressed with the surroundings that I had not noticed that the "truck" did not have any steering or drive shafts. I believe you are correct. It looks to have been a fancy air compressor/trailer which was likely pulled up to the mine.

You should check out Frank Hood's videos of this area. He has a video of the Hi-Peak Mine (as listed in Kern County Mines & Mineral Resources report) which he describes as the Tungsten Peak Mine, that is what is seen on the old topo maps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqfcm42Am9aEl7c

I think it's spelled Magnolia, not Mangolia. Magnolia, like the plant, or like Pierre Magnol who described the plants.
@Oidium454 жыл бұрын
Actually, it is magnola. Thank you for the correction though.
@Nonononono_Ohno4 жыл бұрын
@@Oidium45 Are you sure? I'm getting more hits on google for "Nadeau-Magnolia" than for "Nadeau-Magnola", and Magnolia would make much more sense, given that "Nadeau" is a French sounding name as well, and given that there's even a town called "Magnolia" in CA... Anyway, thanks for the great videos!

@@Oidium45 Cool, thanks :-) At 16:32 in the video, on the left side of the entrance, I see a lot of this strange combination of yellow, dark orange, deep red and dark chocolate brown one often sees in uranium mines... probably only iron, but who knows.
