Done a lot of these after Hurricane Sandy... I should be rich, though helped out my neighbors in time of crisis. They no longer flip me the bird when driving past my house and on occasion they buy me a cup of coffee, black no sugar as true plumbers drink it.

Great videos! What is your opinion on downsizing nozzles? I have an older W-M 466 boiler in great running order. Recommended nozzle is 1.5 gph but have lowered it to 1.25 and increased pump pressure to about 110 psi. . The house is heated with W-M cast iron baseboard and even On the coldest days, 0 degrees, I've never had the burner ever run continuously. I've got pretty good efficiency, around 75%, and know it's pretty hard to improve on that. Not sure if the improved performance of a new boiler would ever offset the cost. Any thoughts?

Steven wouldn't that heat exchanger chamber be filled with water as well being underwater?
@stevenlavimoniere6 жыл бұрын
the boiler has sections this one is a 3,,, the water will drain out between sections .the water will not get trapped but will drain down into base like this one did
@jbpost526 жыл бұрын
You did what I was thinking I meant the boiler chamber, which was full of water. I imagine its not good for the flame retardant liner. Funny she most definitely was a leaker when you opened up that boiler door.

Good job on that one, there lucky that your here, or they might have been scammed into buying a new burner. Boy, imagine that, you get an expensive burner just for it to go underwater and be replaced...

Is there a concern for the piece of backing material inside the boiler. This shields the cast iron from direct flame? I dont know what its called. Wouldnt it deteriorate after soaking?

@stevenlavimoniere6 жыл бұрын
yes the old AF just had a different fan blade,,,,, less fan blades and bigger ,but same chassy all the parts are interchangeable
@morcowbell93876 жыл бұрын
Yes most parts are exchangeable between American oil burners manufacturers , Beckett, Wayne and Carlin’s ! Riello and the newer Beckett Nx or AFII that’s a different story!

Myself spray any existing submerged wires with WD 40 [WD means: Water Dissident, and 40 means: Batch #40]. Then in a brief period of time, then spray some contact cleaner removing oily film before firing.

I guess that's one way to clean the basement floor. At least it had none of those brown trout swimming around. I guess I should quit being a cheap sob and replace my sump pumps for my French drain system. Pumps are 10 years old and reminders of flooded basement are "not good" Not that customers would listen but sump pump checks and replacement should be a regular pm. Might avoid this disaster. Nice job Steve
