That's a beautiful trailer David 👌 I've got my argo now so when you're ready mate we'll go get bogged 😂 I'll talk to you when you bring that trailer in for its service, no tracks or winch yet??

Got a winch recently, tracks may not be necessary or in the budget - likely to cost excess of 10 grand to get what I really want, and they make it less capable in the water. Playlist link: kzbin.info/aero/PLXvLC1_XYdhqGyDOVGN3gOZSY5_pJo0PN

Great video, do you use this pump for the transmission fluid change as well? I was too cheap to buy that pump but it sure looks like it’s worth saving the mess I’ve been making with my cheap attempts.

Yeah I use it for all the fluids. It was about $60aud delivered from ebay.

Hi, great video as usual.👍👍 Even though you drain and fill via the dip stick, can you be sure you have all the oil? At this stage with such clean oil it is not super important, but if any material contaminants lay on the bottom of the sump, you will not be collecting them. As you say, bad design when it come to maintenance.😢😢 Can you reach the sump plug at all? It will be a magnetic sump plug, so anything it collects will give you an indication as to how the motor is wearing. Even removing it after the sump is "empty" would be good for inspection. It would be good to wipe the dipstick then dip the oil, oil splash and the filling will have oil running down the lubrication ducts and possibly over the stick. Did you check oil after the outing? Does the motor have an oil pressure switch? Some do, to shut the motor down in the case of no oil, usually they are fitted to generator motors, but may also be on yours. It would be a good addition to have a Oil indicator light on the dashboard, if it doesn't already, possibly a future mod. Thanks for letting us see the "DAF" based continuously variable belt drive.👍👍😊👍👍 I came across my first one in an Australian made Alternator test bench, VANE VT-510, the motor drive was a 3phase motor, and they use compressed air to control the cone pulley for alternator speed.👍👍 Remarkably quiet. Are you going to attach a flag on a fishing rod for visibility to the Argo?✌

Flag is certainly a thought. RE: oil plug - have to remove the engine entirely, and that also messes up all the chain tension settings. Some people fit right angle fittings and a ball valve. I just suck out the oil again in a few hours and put more fresh in without changing the filter - however it's a spanking new engine that had an oil change at 3 hours when the dealer handed it over. Yes it has low oil shutoff, and I''ll be carrying a half liter of spare oil in case I get caught on the water. Left hand idler chain is loose now, so next video will probably be the adjustment procedure on that. Dipstick gets wiped with clean rag before each check, and yes checked levels during and after trip. Probably going to invent an auto chain oiler for it though.

nice machine , i use a small pump powered by a electric drill , works good to get the oil out , no more hand pump ,

The vacumn pump works just fine for me. Also allows me to hear when I've hit the bottom.

@@TheAussieRepairGuy over here in new brunswick , canada i have to change my oil at least 2 time a year , just before winter and in the start of summer ,

I would do the same if I was dependant on the argo for transport, in this case it's just for recreation. But I do try to keep filters and oil fresh.
