Excellent video. Nice pace, clear footage and well prepared dialogue. Information presented in an easy to watch fashion and, by the end, there seems to be every reason to have a go yourself. Many thanks for your efforts. I will probably use a vacuum pump to drain the oil simply to avoid issues with removing the sump plug which will certainly have been tightened with an air wrench. Good tip about the oil filter adapter.

Honestly don't really ever need less than 5w in the uk, which would be for -40° Vs -35°, neither of which you Will really ever see in most of UK and probably wouldn't be in your Yaris if so 😂

@@falconlips5474 Used to use 0w20 as Toyota recommends but 5w20 is cheaper....some people use 5w30!! Which can be used but they (Toyota) said to use 0w20 next time. Work that out. 😉😉

My 2011 Yarns does not have an AC filter. Same housing, just not fitted. Should I add one? Glove box fitting different too.
@2ndGearLow3 жыл бұрын
Hi Iconoclad, thanks for watching. Many other cars do not come with a cabin air filter at all, so it's not absolutely essential to the running of your car, but if the cost is not an issue it's a relatively quick and easy improvement you can make here. Looking at the Ryco filter finder, they specify the same RCA164M filter for all models of the 2011 Yaris, so this one should work for you. Alternatively, you can use the Toyota genuine part 87139-52020, or find an alternative aftermarket part in your area. Here is the search that I used (Ryco): www.rycofilters.com.au/Search/SearchResult?make=TOYOTA&model=YARIS&year=2011&liter=

Hi Edmond, thanks for watching! Mobil or Castrol are both well known brands, just make sure you're using the correct viscosity (e.g. 5W-30) and quantity based on your cars Owners Manual.

hello my friend. My Toyota Yaris 2012 with the same engine 1.3 VVTI has 177,000 KM on the odometer and I just bought the car, what oil should i use?
@2ndGearLow2 жыл бұрын
Hi Daban, please refer to your Owner's manual, as that may vary depending on which region you are in. Where we live in Australia, 5W-30 is the specified engine oil for this engine. Generally, hotter climates require higher engine oil viscosities, and the opposite for colder climates, as the oil will not flow as easily when very cold.

@2ndGearLow2 жыл бұрын
Hi Subir, please refer to the owners manual for your particular vehicle, as it will be stated in there towards the end. That said, 5w-30 fully synthetic is commonly specified for engines of this size, so is likely correct

Oil is a brownish color! Yuck. How long is your change interval? Is it foamy at all?
@2ndGearLow4 жыл бұрын
Correct, this oil was far darker than it should be when changed, but not foamy. In this car the oil should be changed approx. every 10,000km (some say 15,000km), but this oil was left far longer than that.

Hey I know, it's been years you uploaded but I got a used Yaris YRX 2013 hatch and I am concerned with my fuel economy it been around 8.6L/100km for the first 300-400kms since I got the car, do you have any idea what could be going wrong? Thanks!!
@falconlips5474 Жыл бұрын
That's very poor, my 2003 Yaris gets at least 5.9L/100 with 91 octane. First thing is to check tyre pressure but they would have to be very flat for that mileage. Dragging brakes, vacuum leaks and poor compression would be some possible causes. Do you have any warning lights or codes
