Just bought my 2018 forty-eight. Every video I watch gives me slightly different advice on how to check and change the oil. I've decided to go with yours as you seem to combine common sense with HD reference material.

Can you use the same oil in the primary as in the Reservoir? Like hd 20w-50 full synth?
@averagejoereview1922 жыл бұрын
And how do you check your primary lvl?
@MotoHeadKyle2 жыл бұрын
So if you’re using like the Harley Syn 3 or Mobil 1 or ams oil 20-50 you can use that in your primary! Most of those bottles list good for engine, primary & transmission on their label. So I would just look for that to be certain.
@MotoHeadKyle2 жыл бұрын
@@averagejoereview192 as far as the primary level, the fluid should be level just touching the lower part of the basket. I will throw a link with a picture here.. www.hdforums.com/forum/attachments/primary-transmission-driveline-clutch/520954d1501266124-primary-oil-level-primary-fluid-level__zpsnjtdi2zx.png Hope this helps! @@MotoHeadKyle @Moto Head Kyle thanks a lot man for the info I just did my first oil change on my 22 48 sportster and was tripping out cus I saw in the video later when I re watched it you put 2 different types of oils in and I just put the full synthetic screaming eagle oil 20w-50 in both cus that's what the guy at the harley place gave me when I asked for all the stuff for an oil change
@MotoHeadKyle2 жыл бұрын
@@averagejoereview192 no worries! I just prefer to put “gear oil” (higher weight) in over the 20-50(typical motor oil) in. But at the end of the day it’s all preference! And what’s readily available for you to use. Hope to see you in the comments in the future! Stay safe.

Trust me its a matter when not if the drain tube cracks and leaks on you.

I have had sportsters since I was 27 yrs old...I am now 62...I have never had a tube crack on me. I have had other issues...lol but never that one.

You really shouldn't be putting this video out, it skips highly important information. You MUST bleed the air out the drain tube before starting the bike else you could risk catastrophic damage.

I’ve only let the air out of the drain tube a couple times doesn’t seem to make any difference whether you do it or not. I’ve had my bike for 22 years. Still working fine.
