Hi Richard, im not here to critize or anything but i want to give you a tip while you are changing the oil and filter. On the bottom plugs, you only need to open one of them. There are two of them but thats only to give you the option to change the oil if the tractor is leaning to one of the sides. Also there should be a copper ring to function as a sealing (if the cooper ring is still in place then you can take a blowtorch and re-heat the ring and dip it in water to make it soft again). You have a great blog and im quite enjoying watching your videos here on youtube! Im living in Norway and have my own sheep farm, but im working on the other dairyfarms and cattle farms when they need my help. Maybe next year me and the misses will take the trip to England and we might just drop in on you to see your place and take with us some of your experience on dairy farming. Two tumbs up anyways ;)

If you have no filter wrench a farmers tip is to wrap baler twine round and round the filter in as anti clockwise direction, the twist the end round a bar or long spanner , then twist off and hey presto. Never failed in 50 years.

It's not 16mm Massey has very very few bolts that are 16mm if any!! You'll just round the head of the bolt then you just have to bore it and get it tapped.

@macfarms6 жыл бұрын
It's always good to do if possible. You couldn't put too much oil in that filter anyway since it mounts on it's side.

So what happened to running the engine to fill the filter and the check if there was any leeks on the oil plugs and the filter and to recheck the oil because it would have dropped due to the filter being empty on first start up, Also I do hope that under Coshh regulations you chemically sanitised your hands before milking or touched any feed stuffs due to the fact you got pollutant on your hands, (black old oil), #shakingmyheadindisbelief#
@MrPaul1f6 жыл бұрын
Stuart Barry Are you for real? He would have washed his hands straight away as they were covered in oil! Also anyone who's ever worked on a dairy farm would know you either wear solvex or disposable gloved when milking! I'm sure Richard did check the level again after running. But regardless your being really pedantic.
@thefunkyfarmer6 жыл бұрын
Yes Stuart I did all those things, and topped up with oil after. Just remember I'm not a professional mechanic and the videos I do aren't meant to be the definitive guild on how to do something, just how I do it. Anyway how do you know I milked any cows on the day I did this?
@yazmindunne30596 жыл бұрын
It's guys like Stuart that have destroyed this country with their bullsh!t rules and regulations that prevent you from doing everything ... He has no place in society and should crawl back under his stone ... The oil change was a fine job and how most people do it .. Well done keep Britain farming !! 😀

You make me laugh you wear gloves for jobs when you don't need them and a when you do need them you dont wear them
@thefunkyfarmer6 жыл бұрын
There's a simple explanation for the lack of gloves in this video. I can't operate the camera with oily gloves on. Normally I would wear them for a job like this. Like with when you see me wearing them when you think I don't need them, you only get half the story.
@oitzharveyxd32276 жыл бұрын
thefunkyfarmer Okay but personally I would focus on not getting carcinogenic oil on my hands then getting oil on a camera. I know someone who got cancer out of the blue and he did a lot of work with oil and never worn gloves...
@thefunkyfarmer6 жыл бұрын
Ok I get the message but I think the risk is negligible considering the level of exposure I get
@pgillen4106 жыл бұрын
Small exposure once or twice will do no harm but i know someone who did get cancer after he spent years working with hyraulic oil and no gloves
@thefunkyfarmer6 жыл бұрын
It's not actually been proven as a cancer cause for humans though. A the experiments were carried out on mice
