I’m just glad the check engine light/warnings came on for your wife. I had a 2015 explorer for work and one of those lines blew off without any warning and the vehicle almost locked up. I noticed knocking and shimmying thankfully and parked it. No check engine light or any warning lights. It was bone dry of any oil.

I use 1/4" drive for most things. If I can't get something loose then I switch to 3/8" drive. 90% of the time you don't need anything heavier and you can get into smaller spaces. Good thing you saved it.

Great video. Did this on rust belt 2011 Sienna so I fought all the attaching hardware, especially on the lower flange.

Torque values for those who care. Studs: 7ft-lb; Bolts and nuts: 16ft-lb. But it's very hard to put a torque wrench there and apparently swivels do affect torque settiing

Ya I pretty much found out about this failure on my 2010 RX350 this Labor Day weekend. Walked out to a puddle of oil and a trail of oil from from when I pulled in the night before. Toyota parts gave me a discount...not. $108 at the dealer for the part. A few hours later it was done and actually glad it didnt fail on the highway or far from home on some lonely Colorado road lol (Mine came with gaskets in the same box)

Some models with the V6 in the affected years dont have a factory oil cooler (like the camry, avalon, and es350), so this isnt an issue in those, although the rubber section of VVT-i oil hose sometimes has issues

You're supposed to fill the new oil filter with oil

Some people do that but I've been doing it my way for over 30 years without any problems.

Greg Medford Rant on America is pretty awesome. "Medford Knife and Tool" kzbin.infouIRUoKbR_MY?si=dooApHj1WbvorCeT He mentioned the FBI. The first part of the video is on Knives.
