Thanks for the video- after watching yours I made a splash guard up out of an old rubber mat to stop the oil sloshing over the frame rail- worked a treat!

Old video I know but at 1:49 your hand covers the point where you are SUPPOSED to do the oil change. The oil is sucked out of the engine from the pipe sticking up under your hand. Twist and pull up to remove the cap, use a vacuum oil change pump to remove the oil AND THERE IS NO MESS. Some suggest removing the plug afterward to make sure all the oil is removed but this shouldn't be needed as the other end of the pipe is below the boss the plug is threaded in to.

Good to see they did away with the notch like they have on Discovery 3 where you have to install the filter element first, locate the notch then put housing over top torqued to 25nm id say 3.0 is same as its a plastic also. Same torque specs as drain plug not that anybody bothers to torque that :)

Your videos are so good! great that you showed how fast the oil comes out, that looked super old and thin but was it? Just incase anybody at Powerfulukltd says the videos are a waste of time, I just ordered a rear brake disk upgrade kit, tranmission filter/sump change (I still have the original at 121k miles ech) and the hitch lock overhaul kit at the great price of £417. I would of included the oil and a service kit but you don't seem to do them. I tried to call to find out, but you don't have a phone team only email people! Nice thing about talking to people, great chance for upselling stuff you want to off load like 32mm sockets that I may not have. One for the continuous improvement team! Keep up the good work, sure I know this one is 3 years old but a classic!

Hi - yes sorry about the phone number - we are a small team and we have decided that the best way to support our customers is by email - if we had more recourses we would offer phone and even live chat support. Thanks for the order and glad the video helped. We do not advertise anywhere so KZbin is our main route to customers !

The first thing I taught my mechanics was to ensure they made no mess. Then demonstrated the method. I took a 2 liter single use plastic bottle. Coka Cola or Pepsi or something similar. Cut a hole in the side. then cut the top where the cap fits off. Make that hole a little bigger than it normally is. The bottle plastic wall is thin and flexible, and fits neatly between the frame and the plug so when the bolt is loosened, the method is to slide this over the bolt with the open end facing downwards. Then insert fingers and remove the plug. Less than two or three drops were spilt that way, every single time. And a powertip? Never remove the filler cap before the draining has been virtually completed. The filler cap causes enough of a vacuum to control the flow of oil out the drain plug quite nicely. My guys use normal catchtanks to do this simple job, effortly with no mess. I could immediately see this was the first attempt of the fella who made the video. Amateurish.

What a mess !!! This is why LR has provided a vacuum oil drain outlet... Easier and cleaner ;-) And don't forget that you have to loose the filter casing for 6 turns to drain it before to remove !

Thanks for the video. I have a 2016 LR discovery 4 sdv6, In cold start the oil pressure light comes on for like 2-3 seconds then goes off also there is a tapping sound same time. Any suggestions on this issue What oil should I use ? Currently on 5w30 castrol. Thanks Sahan

It may be worth fitting a new oil pump - this can be done from the front of the engine when doing the timing belt. Interesting it happens when cold - normally the oil is warmer then - unless the oil is running back out of the pump. They really should have a 3 crank delay before starting to prime the oil pump

Did you know that the extraction method removes more oil than the drain plug method.Why take so much time and mess ?
@simonjefferson4 жыл бұрын
As the drain plug is at the bottom of the sump.... so i was hoping that would drain more that the sucky sucky method !
@blackvulcan1004 жыл бұрын
@@simonjefferson Exactly what I thought but it seems the extraction method goes a couple of mil lower.I did some research on this so like you I was surprised.

I kame here to se how much oil but i se that you have no clu what you doing... After removibg filter there is like half liter oil coming down to sump. And never fill filter with oil because it may break down. Air need to leac fast but when your filter is in oil air canot leav fast and it may break down pap to leav...

It isn't a Peugeot engine. Its a joint development between Ford/PSA/JLR. The JLR engines are made in Dagenham. An awful lot of owners that have had an engine failure seem to have been less than regular with oil and filter changes from what I have seen/heard/read. The 3.0tdv6 in my previous X351 had well over 150k on it when I sold it at 3 1/2 years old. A mate had two X351s that both hit 200k without any problems.

Hi Liam -thanks for the input - can you share the torque setting with us please. I was always wary of over torquing things with a rubber seal. Also they are often hard to get a torque wrench onto. Please share your tips.
