Great stuff, really simplifies having all the torque specs and gasket instructions in the same video.

Nice vid bro, im going to try and do the timing cover on the sr20 in my s13. Do i need to remove the gearbox to access the 2 rear bolts of the upper oil pan?
@kriswyche Жыл бұрын
you can remove all the upper oil pan bolts with trans on however, you must remove trans bolts to drop it iirc. check forums, people find very clever shortcuts for things like this. use your best judgement when taking a shortcut and if you need help, DM me on instagram, im always down to help if i can !!

hello again brother. wanna ask ,is it possible to remove the oil pick up tube without messing the upper pan ?
@kriswyche21 сағат бұрын
what's up !! I believe it is possible to remove it without taking off the upper pan. some bolts might be harder to reach and lower pan will need to come off obviously !

What brand timing cover did you go with? Couldn’t quite catch the logo on the box
@kriswyche9 ай бұрын
quite funny, i was just watching your older sim videos again to set up a rig with a buddy of mine ! it is a P2M timing cover from enjuku racing www.enjukuracing.com/products/p2m-front-cover-oil-pump-assembly-for-nissan-sr20det-s13-s14-s15.html/?afmc=5lp

You should have purchased and installed the updated new style timing chain guide which is made out of metal. The plastic ones can break over time and ruin the engine.
@kriswyche2 жыл бұрын
I would have purchased soo much more but money was tight, I know for sure that I’m going to switch over to a mechanical timing chain tensioner in the future

Actually I have a question. How did you remove the valves from the sr? Like I’m trying to remove mine with a tool but the valve moves when I try to compress the spring. My head is off of the block so idk if I have to use a nut or a cloth to make the valve stop moving so I the spring actually compressed.
@kriswyche2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never removed valves from sr but I have removed them in general before, there are retainers at the top of the valve stem, when you compress the spring with the tool, they should become more visible and I used a magnet to remove them when I first did this long ago on different motor. Then the spring and washer should be able to come out, keep in mind without the retainer the valve will be loose so have a towel or something to catch it

Hey quick question, on bead for the upper oil pan some of the beads went outside the bolt holes and some went inside, any reason for that?
@kriswyche2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, check the time stamp for when I applied gasket. FSM says to go outside of four bolt holes because the bolts are located inside the pan instead of outside !!

@@kriswyche Aw I see, I hope I remembered to do that when assembling my SR last year not sure if I did or not haha guess I'll find out if it leaks, or I guess it's so no RTV gets in and clogs up your oil pickup
@kriswyche2 жыл бұрын
@@Grainsauce I think is for better seal but either way, if it ain’t leaking then you good ma boy !! Lmaoo
