Gonna be rebuilding mine next year and I am so happy I found this channel!! In the sea of clickbait video titles/ Vlogs that don't provide any info you are a god send man. Thank you so much and keep it up.

YES DUDE !! this is why i made these so everyone can rebuild themselves and have numbers, specs, and more, remember to clean the valves also, it will help tons

I think the reason you had a tough time lining up the timing marks on the cams was your intake cam wasn't exactly at 10 o'clock (@10:18) which is super hard to tell without the sprocket. When you have the sprocket on @12:36, you can use the 12 holes to gauge the "hour" mark better and you can see the 12 o'clock "hole" is off to the right just a little (enough for that one link that you're off by). Any way, your rebuild series was super helpful while I rebuilt mine so thanks lol

really good catch !! i did notice this and i believe i ended up fixing this later on. timing is always a pain but i’m glad i have the diagrams and specs shown and also i’m really happy this helped you !!

Awesome vid....but how did you release the chain tensioner..? Thx
@kriswyche3 ай бұрын
@@jvrkandc it can be a bit sketchy but i used a long flat head and basically tapped the hook off with it once it was installed and torqued !!

Great step by step man, so glad I've found your channel for when I rebuild my engine 👍 Just one question though, after you pushed the chain tensioner in and mounted it how did it pop back out? You showed it coming out on the video but I didn't see how.
@kriswyche2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man that was the plan, this way everyone can have a video guide for rebuild!! With the tensioner it’s supposed to pop out by itself after you tighten it, if that doesn’t work you can spin crank slightly and it should pop out. If all that fails, you have to stick something in there and push the arm that holds it down so it pops out !

Brilliant thanks for the reply 👍

I was given a SR with the cams and cam gears out of the the head so there is just a timing chain going to the crank. Is there any way to put it back together without taking the timing cover off to count the links? Thank you.
@kriswyche Жыл бұрын
yes, you can count chain links from each sprocket on the cam gears. make sure cylinder one is at TDC and after that rotate it a bit and then get 1 back to TDC and verify number of links hasn’t changed. very sorry for late reply. youtube hides comments sometimes

Do you know where I can get the cam caps? I searched on eBay and other sites but not yet.
@kriswyche8 ай бұрын
usually you replace the entire head assembly, this is also the reason why you keep the caps in the same order when you remove and reinstall, because the tolerances are so tight and changing them can cause the bore to be out of round.
@kriswyche8 ай бұрын
if you do end up finding caps, make sure you install them without the camshafts and torque them, then have a machine shop check each cam bore for any out of round 👍🏾
