You can use the cheaper finish sprays to seal ur work perfectly, stops all smearing and smudge and u can go back on top and add to it if u want.

I am so glad to find your channel! I too love oil pastels. Pentel and Mungyo Gallery Soft Oil Pastels are my two favorite brands. Sennelier look incredible but they're out of my budget. Thanks for the video!

How do you get such fine, delicate lines in your small sketches in your sketchbook?
@PaintingWithJoy Жыл бұрын
The pentel ones are a little bit easier to use on the side. The corners are easier to use for fine lines...
@louisacahan831 Жыл бұрын
@@PaintingWithJoy thanks, I’ll try Pentel. I’ve been using softer ones.

I love your florals 🌸 was drawn to your work because I love watercolors and oil pastels as well. My top 2 favorite mediums. I heard that oil pastels are a wet medium which makes a lot of sense to me as to why I love watercolor + oil pastels 😊

Thank you so much! There are some water soluble oil pastels - those are super fun to play with too! Yes to watercolors and oil pastels!!!

This is so helpful and inspiring! The price tag for the Sennelier is pretty scary, they are sooo sooo tempting though…

I am super psyched to use my Pentel Pastels , they were only $12.99 & came with a sketch pad, I got the set of 50. Senn - ell-y-YAY! is how you pronounce it, accent on the YAY! Sennelier

Regarding Pentel, does the strong smell go away at some point?
@laradavenport903 Жыл бұрын
Yes, if you used it as you could; it should be gone in months. It has the same smell as gasoline!😅

I'm not sure that it smells for me, but I could just be using them a lot and I can't smell them anymore...
@veystone2580 Жыл бұрын
@@PaintingWithJoy Well, maybe you are used to it.... but they smell like gasoline. Is actually a very strong and pungent odor. Im surprised u dont smell it. I had to throw mine away cause they triggered migraines. Even my grandkids told me, that they didnt want them because they were soooo stinky. 😆 So I bought them the Myngyo Gallery. Those are way better anyway, but I was looking for something harder cause sometimes I like to do some sketchy looking paintings and Pentel are great for that, but that smell.... 🤮

Got it! I'll try to remember to smell them next time - it could also be that I usually have a candle going when I'm working...

It is hard to figure out the best tool or what to purchase... I've found that playing with the tools a little more each day helps. I bought some oil sticks that I thought were junk, and then, I ended up liking them in the span of 10 mins.
@sheryscott27572 жыл бұрын
Hi Joy, it's a French word, so it's not at all surprising that most people mispronounce Sennelier: senn el eeyay with the accent on the very last syllable. Best regards!
@PaintingWithJoy2 жыл бұрын
Hello Shery! Thank you so much for that help with the pronunciation. That was a hard one for me. 😊
