Uganda’s oil project has been in fast-track mode since April 2021 when the government and the joint venture partners-French TotalEnergies EP and China’s Cnooc-signed off key agreements for the proposed East African Crude Oil Pipeline. Later in February 2022, the two sides announced the long-awaited Final Investment Decision to work towards kick-starting commercial oil production in the last quarter of 2025. While the momentum hasn’t changed, the mood is far from festive amid a series of hiccups that have led to revising the production schedule to quarter 4 of 2026 but could as well inch into early 2027. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition

fools can believe even the most obvious of lies. With the level of corruption in this country, no amount of oil, diamonds, and gold will develop Uganda, just like DRC.

Well said, Mr. Ssekatawa, the Counsel for this enormous project we have ever undertaken in Uganda. You are right that doing it well is the way to go instead of rushing to production and making regrettable mistakes afterwards. The oil refinery and gas byproducts are equally exciting as well. Done properly and managed accordingly, I don't see any reason why Uganda will not benefit. Has anyone thought about creating the Uganda Sovereign Wealth Fund (USWF) which will invest a portion of the petroleum proceeds for the future? Norway has had one since they started exporting oil and gas back in 1971. Today, the Norway Sovereign Wealth Fund with investments all over the world, valued at USD1.71 trillion and equivalent to USD307,000 per Norwegian citizen is the largest and wealthiest in the whole world! No doubt that managed well the USWF could do just as well. I commend you upon your hard work and look forward to your continued success. Well done.

If they were not selfish, they could ask each Ugandan to contribute only 10000ugx ,they could collect 6Billion $. That is enough to construct the oil pipeline. But these tricky, greedy politicians we can't trust them. I saw how Botswana built their own university and city by citizens contributing. Their projects are too slow while other countries are developing their natural resources very fast. By the time these ones wake up more countrues will have exploited theirs longtime.
