Really an excellent video with mountains of important information. My plan is to review this video many times to absorb it all. Bravo!

When the lanes where I bowl get burned up, I usually move further out (feet and down the lane) and increase my speed. I find this to create a little more length to deal with and a stronger angle to the pocket. When I get a transition like this, that's when I bowl my best games. Unfortunately, I'm left handed so I don't enjoy this transition as much as right handers. But alot of people move in and slow down, and they usually maintain more consistent scores.

Great video. I am a fairly new bowler and this was very instructional. I have experienced some of the issues regading "carry down"...or what I see may not have been carry down. I have also noticed, I usually bow a decent 1st game, a terrible 2nd game, and a decent 3rd game. Thanks much!

Oil transition can destroy everything so that video really helps a lot. I am two handed bowler and i have 500 rpm and 17-18 mph on the ths pattern. Especially at the 3rd games, my average decreases dramatically. I try to find the correct board, release, speed etc. at that games. Even i change the ball but it does not help mostly. Thank you for the video about the adjustments.

Polish the ball to prevent that early hook? Is this a good time for a pearl cover? Assuming no further left works.

I listened and saw that the question you asked and answered was a bit off the mark about being correct. The ball max weight is 16 lbs. going into a pin weighing 3 lb 6 oz. The ball in the ideal scenario rolls in the pocket to hit 4 or 5 pins not all at same time. 5 pins total 16.75 lbs. The full rack of pins is yes, 33.75 lbs. 16 lb ball vs 33.75 lb pins. But the ball does not hit every pin all at once. Really, the ball at 16 lbs going 13 mph to hit a pin 3 lb 6 oz stationary is nearly 2700 lbs of force. That is a large force to realize. The ball does hit eventually, a total of 16.75 lbs of pins.

look for people who are scoring well and throw in away you can throw similarily to. sometimes this can get you out of jail long enough to keep yourself in the running long enough to get something going

In the video 2-1 and 4-2 moves were labeled as "parallel moves" but they're actually angular moves.
@NPMystikal11 жыл бұрын
They are not labeled as parallel moves...in fact, he provides you with 3 different options as little moves to get deeper, i.e. "parallel move" "2-1" OR "4-2"

3:35 If only that pattern were about 5' longer. Cuz it gets about as scoreable as a house shot after a few games. I can usually just take a ball down to 180 grit and play up 5 for a few frames then it opens up nicely. Wouldn't be able to do that if it were 45' lol. Also on a house shot, it should never be necessary to move your eyes. Plenty of hold in the middle, and if you play though the oil, you'll be able to keep the same breakpoint. Unless you are a two hander or something. Then you need to work the hold.

Bowling is way more complex than I never knew after I bowled a 279, 254, and a 248 during morning league as a 15 year old. We used to say the lanes were "stacked" when everyone could more easily throw strikes. (now we all know it was the oil patterns) However, NO ADULTS ever came down to us very YOUNG teenagers with 200+ averages at Kings Bowl in Millbrae CA and bothered to explain anything. We had no idea there were standard oil patterns. We were just learning about having an extra spare ball and at least 2 strike balls. We used split finger delivery on dry lanes to pick up those tricky 10 pins as right handers and were spot on. We worked WAY harder than today's bowlers. Case and point. Back in our day, we were neglected, ignored, and the adults and the pros never reached out to us when WE could have become pro-bowlers. MY morning league had 4 bowlers with 200+ averages for 3-4 years straight at ages 13-17. We won tons of trophies and tournaments too but the PBA scouts were few and far between. My friends and I could of all become millionaires if ANYONE would have reached out to us early on, taught us oil patterns, ball choice, technique, adjusting for lanes during 2 day + tournaments etc. Then we all turned 18, went to college, and never bowled again. Its a sad story aye?

Im a lane man. Oil the lanes heavier 7-7 put more on the heads go down a little farther and the lanes never breakdown. It takes a little more effort and time.
