Ok, so let's do some quick math... This is the 16th song into their set... If you average each song at 6 minutes per (which is conservative given how live performances can extend each song)... We have this equation... 16 X 6 = 96 Minutes... So that is an hour and a half of Midnight Oil level intensity... And then watch them play this song with the kind of energy and precision as if it's the first song of the night... Seriously?!?! Just f-ing unreal! I saw them 3 times in the mid 80s. Still to this day, by FAR the best live performances I have ever experienced! And why Rob Hirst isn't ever mentioned in any list of the top 10 drummers of all time is a friggin CRIME!!

I think Keith also did The Oils at the Capitol in '82. Great sound. That was one of the things was to capture this band's live sound which is more intense than studio material though they're awesome too. I just think The Oils live was something to behold. Been seeing them live since 1978. Go boys.

You really see the diff between a garage bass player and Gifford. He plays little rhythmic patterns and actually plays "music" instead of just plucking the basic bass notes. You notice that in bands that have a great backing sound that the bass player knows his stuff . Listen to Back on the borderline and hes pulsing all the step notes between main ones and that and Martins and Jim's forceful and melodic playing parts and you get a complete sound. Not quite the same since Giffo.....
