Ojai bans use, sale of glue traps within city limits

The Ojai City Council unanimously voted to permanently ban the sale and use of glue traps in their community. (Mar. 4, 2024)

Glue traps are hurting or killing birds so they are banned. However, wind generators and solar concentrators are also hurting or killing birds but they are not banned. Animal rights people please explain why you care so much about some birds but not others.

Yet other traps aren’t banned, wind generators and concentrators aren’t banned, cars aren’t banned, other objects that aren’t meant to hurt animals but cause injuries aren’t banned. So what’s the real reason for the ban. Gonna stock up as if it happens in one city it’ll spread through out the state

I just keep them in my kitchen. I just bought some like 3 months ago just in case. I can't imagine putting them outside for any reason

This is so true. I had a glue trap for rats coming around for my dogs food in my backyard at night and when I went out there to check on it there was a little baby bird that died in it. Broke my heart 😢 I will never use these again. I hope people reconsider using these.

@@LosAngelesDrummer I mean, that parts’ obvious, most animals don’t want to die but that’s how life works. You yourself are indirectly responsible for 1000 of plant/animal deaths. Humans simply need to eat. No need to let feelings get in the way, we need to use logic over feelings. But what do you think the solution is then? I’m curious how you would solve this issue.

Strangely this makes sense. I live in West Michigan. Rural. We get bugs n animal pests. Dont like them. But I see no logic in trying to get rid of one by killing song bird, small critters that Arent that troublesome. I grew up on a farm n still hunt but we ,,in my upbringings DID NOT TORTURE animals we raisdd/slaughtered or hunted. .

Years ago, I set one out in my garage to trap spiders and a snake got caught in one. I felt horrible. I now don’t worry about spiders and I only use snap traps when I have a mice problem.

​@@multilad816Exactly. Theres lots of pest control methods that DONT catch n torture song birds n small critters that generally are harmless. I grew up farming n still live rural. We get lots of pests n never had a need to use a cruel method to control them. My fathers farm did just fine too. (Grt grandson owns it now. )

Lots of other non torturous methods. I livd rural, grew up farming too. We get lots of bugs n pest critters. You can research n get methods that DONT kill slowly song birds n small bothersome critters. Look into it,,you csn do it.
