I am a 42 year old man, and this brought a legit tear to my eye. I remember picking up the first Okami on PS2 back in my 20's and it was a magical experience. I was so excited. I binged the game until I had completed everything I could find to do in it, and I still missed things. When that ending came, I cried because not only was the ending so beautiful but because I knew it was *the end.* I'd seen enough hidden gems to know this game wasn't going to be a smash success and this was likely the only time I'd get to live in that extraordinary world. This announcement is something I never expected, but upon seeing it I realized that deep down...I never stopped believing in Amaterasu. And to top it off, the OG director is coming back as well. Just shut up and take my money.

How is Capcom able to make a sequel to a game that never sold well? Let's see......The company has been going w0ke in the last couple of years with games like Street Fighter VI, they chased away Hideaki Itsuno, just like they chased away Kenji Inafune during Capcom's first attempt at trying to go out of business, and making woke demakes like Dead Rising. Oh, I know! Capcom took ESG money to fund this game so it's going to a w0ke disappointment. Get ready for this thing to FLOP. And I fully expect Capcom fanboys to blindly defend so they can kill off Okami and try to get Capcom to go out of business AGAIN.

Amaterasu turning from a white wolf back into her celestial form is such a wonderful touch. Those who didn't believe in the gods perceived them as ordinary, but once their faith returned, they saw the divine markings again. As soon as you realize it's Ammy in the trailer, her colors start coming back. Okami's finally back.

This is probably the most emotional I've ever gotten to an announcement like this. Okami for a while was my favorite game, and its still among my favorite video games ever. When I heard those traditional Japanese instruments and saw the watercolors it immediately reminded me of Okami but I was like "Theres no way". The second Amaterasu was running I actually literally gasped. Its still hard to believe it's happening. For as much as I know people love Okami, I still have always felt a little bit like it never got enough recognition, at least back when it first came out. The fact that they gave this announcement such a special buildup makes me really happy. I could see some people thinking something like Okami doesnt deserve quite that level of hype, but to me it definitely does.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I started uncontrollably sobbing when I first saw this. Okami has been my favorite video game for nearly 20 years now (it's what directly inspired me to study abroad in Japan during my senior year of college), and that spark of hope for a sequel has never been extinguished, even though I knew the chances of it ever coming to fruition were slim. The thought of returning to the world of Nippon with a brand-new story and revamped art style is enough to make my heart race with joy. So thank you, Hideki Kamiya, for always believing in this game's potential...now I have something truly amazing to look forward to!

I know when Capcom laid them off back around 2005, he and some of the staff formed Platinum Games while another part of the staff went on to form another studio (I don't remember their name but they were responsible for Okami HD, Jet Set Radio HD, as well as were contracted to redo the port of Zone of the Enders 2 HD for PS3 patching it in that also went on to serve as the foundation of the Zone of the Enders: Mars expanded port for PS4). I hope they'll be somewhat involved since they still port games occasionally and have also been making some original ones occasionally.

I love how this teaser gives the vibes of a grand return, but not just yet. The transition from dark to light, showing the formation of the divine mirror and her markings, the trail of flowers, but never showing her face as she races on towards the horizon. Same. I got Ōkami HD for my birthday when I started getting very serious symptoms of heavy depression when I was about to turn 18. I couldn't keep myself entertained and I lived in the dark (and I almost didn't graduate highschool, my grades tanked). Lots of things happened and I felt worthless. But I found myself playing Ōkami every single day, and when I hit the True Orochi boss fight... I knew I was in for something special. Ōkami means a lot to me and if the original helped me push forward, the sequel will continue to do so. It's one more reason to live

Like I'm not gonna lie, if my sister didn't give me this game back then I prob wouldn't be here alive, it generally helped me through so much back then, death in the family, neglectful and kinda abusive parents, bullying, both of my only life support which were my sisters running away since I was the youngest and didn't have anyway to communicate with them, even to this day when I'm very sad and depressed I just hop on the game, I don't know how many hours I have in this game, I wouldn't doubt it if I was in the 10k+ hours

@WolfHack I don't mean it as "gaming hasn't been art" it's still art. I'm saying this will hopefully be a new renaissance for artistic games such as Okami- where the game is treated entirely as an art piece and not just some piece for a profit. Like Red Dead 2 or God of War. Games that make you question not just it's stories, but your real life. get you thinking about everything like what matters most to you. Gaming has shifted too far into the "competitive gaming" like Cod has and no longer focuses on what made early gaming great. Sure the older cods had multiplayer with heavy competitive nature. But the story modes had a substance that's been lost for a while, making you truly feel as though you were in those boots. This is also in no way saying any of the new games are bad cause of this- but it is depressing to see gaming practically turn into a business instead an escape

Let's see......The company has been going w0ke in the last couple of years with games like Street Fighter VI, they chased away Hideaki Itsuno, just like they chased away Kenji Inafune during Capcom's first attempt at trying to go out of business, and making woke demakes like Dead Rising. Oh, I know! Capcom took ESG money to fund this game so it's going to a w0ke disappointment. Get ready for this thing to FLOP. And I fully expect Capcom fanboys to blindly defend so they can kill off Okami and try to get Capcom to go out of business AGAIN.

18 years. I never once thought that there would be a sequel. I couldn't imagine how there would be a sequel. Yet here it is. The Okami from 2006 was never just a game, it was an experience that bonded with many who have played it to an emotional level. It was a story that wasn't just told nor shown, it was a story that was felt. Its unique world building and amazing characters made the whole experience feel alive and real. I'm sure many can relate when I say that this game is indescribably special. Thank you Hideki Kamiya for the experience you made us felt, even more so now for the experience you have yet to show us. Even though Okamiden was released in 2011, I really didn't think that a sequel would be possible. The story felt complete, though I can definitely imagine how they could still expand it. I'm just really grateful now that we're finally getting a sequel for this masterpiece. Can't wait!

Okami is my favorite game of all time. It is one of the most important pieces of art that I've ever experienced. I had long since given up hope on a sequel, even with Kamiya expressing a desire to make one, if it weren't for him working at Platinum. What flaws does it have? I mean the game on PS2 was pretty close to perfect. Everything about it. The visuals, simple yet so beautiful, the music, a chapter of its own, the controls, the story, yea maybe that could use some improvements, but for what it was, it was nice and a perfect fit for the game. There's not many games about a central duo, consisting of a wolf with a bouncing tiny boy, who wander through the ancient lands of Nippon and restore them from evil. And as a bonus pisssing on enemies to collect demon fangs. XD Oh the nostalgia is strong with this one.

@@Croftice1 It's not like there's anything that is game killing. There's no moment that just is a turn off. The game though does have little things all throughout. Kamiya himself even takes issue with them. The development of it was kinda a mess, teams not working together and everything being an argument. The story also isn't finished, they just had to end the game before they wanted to because, well, Capcom, time, and money. Kamiya has talked about it all in the past. It's insanely impressive that, despite the chaotic and divisive development of it, that the game is the absolute masterpiece that it is. It is a flawed masterpiece, and those flaws only highlight how amazing it is.

I really wanted the sequel to be a Capcom collab with the old team and the ship had sailed since the talks with Platinum. A project with a new Clover with Kamiya back is so good!
