This was interesting nice video (I’m not Jewish so I really learned a lot)

I’m writing Bible Fiction and I’d like the critiques of a Jewish history knower: when do adaptations do the fashion right, and when do they do it wrong?

The ways Jews are described are almost always false. The ways prophets are presented are a little bit more accurate and Jesus, which is always described as someone who stands out, is actually pretty accurate to how Jews dressed and looked. You can take inspiration from the way many Muslims are dressed because after all Muslims took inspiration from Jews and Judaism. Or a very Jewish clothing is just a white robe with rope coloured waistband or a leather belt. Or a black "dress" with a white robe on top of it. Hair should be relatively long, and beards full. A veil for men with a rope strapped around the top of the head is also a possibility. There many other options, but it depends on the time period of the plot...

@@achilles7607 Yeah i wanna be accurate to the time period, though i also LOVE the idea of incorporating anachronisms from more contemporary Jews just to emphasize the characters' "Jewishness". it's a lot like how Tolkien gave pipes to ancient hobbits in order to emphasize their "Englishness".

@@gianni206 So since it's a fiction, you can pick all kinds of traditional Hebrew clothing from all time periods for maybe different occasions and events. But I'm not sure what you are going for so I'm not sure on what to recommend except the basic I said in the comment before. Good luck truly, I would love to read your work.

@@achilles7607 Yeah! You might! I’m working on something now, it’s happening during the divided monarchy period. My plan is actually to camp in the time period between Joshua and 586 BC for a long while, so any detailed suggestions on clothing and accessories of Iron Age Hebrews, as well as those of modern Jews, are definitely more than welcome!

@@achilles7607 If you like essays, I have one on King Solomon on JonnyLupus Substack. But rest assured, the Bible Fiction short story will be entered soon (first draft already complete) :3
