It is alarming how little people realize how awful Elon Musk actually is and how much worse Twitter has gotten since his takeover. Racism against minorities (especially anti-blackness), homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, nazism... all disturbingly common on there now. And Elon regularly, frequently interacts with accounts sharing such rhetoric and viewpoints. He boosts them, agrees with them. It is hellish and serious. It shouldn't be understated, given how many of the awful views spread there aren't just contained within Twitter, but this is having actual effects on the real world.

given that there *literally isn't a content moderation team at Twitter anymore* that doesn't surprise me in the least. what's somehow arguably worse is that other platforms like Instagram that get criticized far, far less also have this same problem even though they (allegedly) do check every post that's reported and even when it contains literally only slurs it's somehow passing review and found not to be against their ToS. At least I live in the EU so we have other methods to report hate speech but when you have somewhat of an idea that the user who posted it isn't from the EU themselves, that also goes out the window.

I'd honestly say certain boards on 4chan (stuff like /g/, /mu/, /a/, /c/, or any other hobby or interest focused board) are more bearable than Twitter, because generally on them you get content relevant to the topic of the board, I mean if I go on /g/ really quick because I have an interest in technology and the first thread I see is about someone having bad internet, and the next one being about mechanical keyboards, basically it's relevant to the topic, I mean literally in the rules it states racism is only allowed in /b/. Unlike in Twitter if you for example just wanna see cute anime art and not political stuff on 4chan just stick to /c/ or /cm/ (which have no NSFW material as they are blue boards), I just checked and yeah it's all just cute SFW anime art, I even enjoyed the /c/u/te thread as a lesbian. Then on Twitter even if you show you're not interested in politics and interested in another topic it'll still force feed you political content. Basically the short version is current Twitter is worse than 99% of boards on 4chan, and depending on the boards you use it is way more enjoyable to use 4chan.

As a 25 year old fanfic writer, dunking on teens for being "unskilled trash" is screaming insecure. Like that is (presumably) an Entire Adult saying that. "Oh I can instantly clock when a fanfic is written by a 17 year old!" Can you? Can you really? Do you check each time? If you read a fanfic that is actually good, do you check to ensure that they're not a teen, either? Seems like some heavy confirmation bias, mate. I was also at a fanfic meet at a con where a 16 year old read me her fanfiction and it was some really good stuff! But also whether or not a teen IS good at writing fanfiction is irrelevant. The only thing that's relevant is if they're having fun (and this is also true for fanfic writers of all ages) Personally, I am pro-teens-believing-they-are-the-gods-of-fanfiction. I wouldn't be the fanfic writer I am today without my teenage arrogance. Being delusional is our god-given right!

It’s literally ragebait though which is the point of the video, the likelihood of them believing what they are writing is pretty low so it’s really not worth treating it as genuine. I know ppl irl who are somewhat elitist about art and if you read that tweet out to them they would automatically disagree with it because it’s worded like an insult designed to get you mad and get clicks.

The Internet is right wing by default until you curate your algorithm...a teenager is not going understand this and have a ton of hateful rhetoric to decipher/parse through.... nightmare
@jayk90682 ай бұрын
Never thought about that, but to take it a step further, you see that in a variety of groups where education is lacking. But it being cool to hate it (on Twitter) is a little different than kids. Teenagers seem like they pick up on bs conspiracies more than avg ppl. In contrast, hatred of education/academia/expertise moreso defines Musk, Kennedy, maga, etc. IMO
@cable64162 ай бұрын
Exactly, it has been this case since its initial design in 1970s. Few understand this! Only now its gotten far worse.
@Blakbox92Ай бұрын
Left wing or liberal people generally don't have a ragebait and trolling industrial complex, they just post their opinion and sometimes it gets out there,. Right wing people will make sock puppet accounts, buy likes, and game the algorithm to push their views which often includes inflammatory, bigoted, or insane conspiratorial nonsense.

No wonder so many advertisers left, because according to them, their ads appeared on pages they had no interest in associating with.... This confirms it. No matter how hard this BRAND NEW account tried to escape negative stuff and Elon's views, it couldn't. So, just like advertisers, this guy basically left, too.
