Skip Bayless is in his most honest era right now, this is nothing but truth. The Thunder are here, and I know that stings for a lot of fans of other teams, but don't hate the Thunder just because they beat your favorite teams. Enjoy this movie-like chemistry and genius team building put together by Sam Presti and co.

The things most people forget is that SGA is in fact a very effective defender. There will not be a single second this season where he isn't next to Dort, Caruso, or Wallace... He will never be given the job to guard the opponents best player. But he is far more than capable of the same kind of defense.

@@josiahpadfield5040 That's also why DPOY has been totally broken as of late. So many aspects of what makes a good defense get totally ignored by the NBA media. But even in the stats they do pay attention to, Shai does pretty good. In the playoffs this year SGA had 17 blocked shots and 13 steals. Per game he was #3 in blocked shots at 1.6 per game. Only behind Chet and Mobley. In the regular season he was tied for most steals in the NBA with Fox.

I can't believe no one made the connection yet, but Isaiah Hartenstein is like a slightly better version of Nick Collison who was basically the glue guy big for Seattle/OKC for his entire career. Collison was a HUGE part of why OKC was so good in the early 2010's but doesn't put up the flashy stats.

Losing Giddey makes them worse and they didn't need Caruso because they already have a bunch of wing players. Wiggins is better than Caruso. Yeah Presti got Hartenstein but they paid way too much for him and he gave away Sengun and Lively, either of which would have been great fits for this team most specifically Sengun who averaged 21/9/5 last season and will be an allstar. Why is nobody talking about Presti trading him away? Not exactly a genius move there Sam.

ok bro. dont need caruso? wiggins better than caruso? paid too much for Hartenstein is there someone else better out there that fits the team? Sengun and lively, yeah no ones perfect but OKC can live with that. Any other team would love Presti as a GM. Keep up that copium bro

@@leonardlaw4676 not saying Presti isn't excellent but praising him for paying 87 mill for a guy when he had two before him that were as good or better doesn't make sense. Put lively on OKC last year there's no question they beat Dallas. He was a big part of why they beat us.
@1O1O11
@1O1O11 3 ай бұрын
I actually agree that after the first trade OKC was a worse overall team. But once they added Hartenstein I totally understood what Presti was doing. Looking at the whole package the roster is overall better, and Wiggins is now on a longer term deal which is a huge win. I think having the best bench and best defense in the NBA has generally turned out well for teams.
@joeldriver-sp2rg
@joeldriver-sp2rg 3 ай бұрын
@@1O1O11 I hope Caruso comes in and plays well but Giddey's upside is tremendous and I don't think fans really understand what we just gave away plus he's only 21 and Caruso is 30. I'm an OKC fan so I'll cheer him on for sure.
@1O1O11
@1O1O11 3 ай бұрын
@@joeldriver-sp2rg My preference was to keep the 57 win youngest team to ever win a playoff series together and make zero changes. But the next best thing for me is having the best bench and best defense in the NBA. It has historically been a combination that has worked. Much more often than teams that collected offensive stars. But I agree that having a 6'8 player that can pass, and having a position-less offense where everyone has excellent decision making and passing was something I wanted to see.

@tymonster183
@tymonster183 3 ай бұрын
Williams and chet are still both really early days in their careers. It's silly to put a cap on them right now, especially with what they've shown thusfar. The argument isn't that the new guys are stars, it's that they perfectly filled their gaps and eliminated their weaknesses and made life easier for their stars.
@kingcollins3965
@kingcollins3965 3 ай бұрын
@tymonster183 they still have no one to guard the elite Wings. Alex is not guarding Luka or Ant and if the make it to the finals he cant Guard JT, JB or any of the elite wings in the east. Hartenstein is a good player but it's only a handful of big men in the league that are good on the offensive end, and Hartenstein can't guard any of them. He's a hustle guy who plays really hard. Stop over valuing role players when that's not the Thunder issue. Anything the media labels a good move the casual fans hope right on the wagon.
@tymonster183
@tymonster183 3 ай бұрын
@kingcollins3965 Caruso and dort are both proven wing defenders. Saying otherwise is ridiculous. I would agree that people are overvaluing hart as a individual, but again, that isn't what I'm talking about. Adding or subtracting players to a roster is a domino effect, the consequences, good or bad, ripple throughout the 5 players on the floor. The thunder lost to the mavs in large part because giddy was unplayable in that series. They just replaced him with two plus players. No players are truly shutting down elite offensive producers, but you address the pieces around them and try and limit their preferred options. The thunder have set themselves up to do that at an extremely high level with the versatility and quality of their roster. It isn't always about the top level guys.
