Originally written by Toby Keith for Clint Eastwood's film, "The Mule", Engelbert makes the tune uniquely his own while staying true to the song's message. Keith wrote the song after a conversation he had with Eastwood. When asked how he continues to work his busy schedule at the age of 88, Eastwood stated, “I don’t let the old man in.”
Keith’s intention behind the tune mirrors Engelbert’s own fervor for his career, as he continues to release new and introspective music, while touring extensively across the United States, Europe, and Asia year after year.

Beautiful song written by the late country singer songwriter Toby Keith. The idea for the song came when Toby Keith asked Clint Eastwood what keeps you going ? Clint Eastwood replied, simple don't let the old man In. Toby Keith took that idea and the rest is history. Beautiful.

I’m 39 with severe MS and when I heard this song the first time I realized how young I actually was. Escaped a marriage to an abusive sociopath walking out when I couldn’t even balance to stand. At 34 I was told I’d be wheelchair bound. My faith and that song kept me pushing and having fun- now no one would know I’m disabled if I didn’t announce it. Jesus is my bestie and carried me when I couldn’t stand!

Love Englebert but Toby Keith wrote it and sung it and gifted it to Clint Eastwood as a birthday present and Clint used it in his movie” The Mule”. Then Toby got stomach cancer and was fighting the battle of his life when he was asked to sing it at the People’s Choice Country Awards in Nashville, Tennessee . So for me, Toby’s version is in a class of its own.

Englebert, what can I say? My late brother in law and myself , and our spouses were all massive fans. The song that we All loved atbthatbtomecwas The Last Waltz. We got tickets to his show at The NEC Birmingham. We never thought we would see him live. I tell you when that man started singing our favourite song THE LAST WALTZ we had tears in our eyes, and that was just myself and late brother in law. Such was the love and feeling we had for this man's voice. We got to see him several times later and he never let us down.
