That's exactly what I did 11 years ago. I came to see this house all the way from New York (where I lived at the time. I'm originally from Poland) after having read The Empire of the Summer Moon. I was absolutely fascinated with Quannah's life story, still find it so inspirational. The house was already in a bad shape and we were not allowed to go upstairs. It still felt amazing standing on that porch where he used to stand... I really hope the house will be restored. It is such an important piece of history. It simply cannot go to waste. I have since moved to Europe and live in Scotland now but my living room wall still features photos of Quannah.

Being of Mexican heritage, this wasnt surprising, however, it made me want to reconnect with my Native American history. It has made me feel proud . I've made contact with the owners Ginger and Wayne Gibson stood side by side with my new friends and washed dishes and waited tables with them so as to be able to understand why the stalemate?.. and we are currently creating a non profit preservation foundation so as to be able to IMMEDIATELY move forward with writing to ask for historic preservation grants and or getting donated funding to protect it and get it tented before winter. ...we are INTERESTED in any and all contributions and volunteers..so PLEASE if you have the MEANS TO HELP....we are interested in hearing from YOU! In this generation the Comanche Nation may not be allowed to own this property or to direct or be on the board of a non-profit organization for its preservation due to the private property interests of the owners... If wealthy people like the Comanche NATION do not use the considerable means that they NOW... possess to contribute to its preservation..... it may not exist in the Next Generation to even argue about who ownS it!! ..... so let's please TODAY OCT 2019.... let's get together on this situation !! Get it handled and stop just TALKING about it! As though we are going to do something !!! let's actually DO something!! I challenge you ALL! .... especially the Comanche Nation! I am the 15th cousin of Cynthia Ann Parker....my name is Cheley Hokanson and I have come here to Cache Oklahoma to the Trading Post, and Quanah Parkers star house from my hometown in Northern Nevada just to personally get this situation sorted out so if little old me nobody common ordinary housewife can be this determined to affect something then what can you do?.... I would love to hear from all interested parties as to a fast preservation of Quanah parkers house....BEFORE WINTER HITS YET AGAIN!! There is no more time left to waste on negotiation.... We MUST ACT NOW!

Apparently they keep turning down offers to help preserve it, from the Comanche Nation, from various preservation societies, from the US Government. It needs to be returned to the Comanche Nation or at the very least, moved to Fort Sill so that the Post and Comanche Nation can work on preserving it.

I've been told through a local historian that knows my families genealogy that my family is kin to Quanah's mother. That it goes back to Cynthia Ann's mother Lucy. I have not studied it myself so I cannot for certain make those claims, however, his story is fascinating. I can't believe there isn't some type of funding for historical houses such as this. I hope to see in the near future this lovely place restored.

Any reason there is so much dislike to Quanah Parker's great-grandson Vincent? I met Vincent in 1982 at the "Star House" and he was very nice, gave me a tour of the inside, and we talked more than two hours. He was very proud of his heritage and his relationship with Quanah Parker. Just confused why such dislike for him....maybe things that happened within the Comanche Nation that are not known to others.

Why they are crooked? Is the question why are they crooked? Well… that’s funny. Not particularly humorous, but. This may line up to the Parker/Gilbert swap of land charters from the original Pennsylvania/Philadelphia land charters! Martha Washington was married to a Parker, and her children were Parker’s… The PA ones, were all quakers… so it’s interesting her son was named Quanah. Also… was the top floor of another house…
