This is really great video. makes me even more wanting joining a star party ones. To be surrounded with all those nice people having the same hobby must be very inspiring and a lot of joy. I just started the hobby and already fell in love with every aspect off it.

See you for my first ever Okie Tex this year (2023)! I’ve done scopes at the Grand Canyon Star Party twice but somehow have never been to Okie Tex! I live in OK, too, so I have no real excuse! Can’t wait!

Do they have power ran to the field for the mounts or is off bat. ?

They do! The field power is ran specifically for that. You can also use the field power to charge small batteries, laptops and other astro gear.

How many clear nights is there typically through the week?

It depends but we usually get more than 50% of the nights. Sometimes worse or better. Just depends.

There’s no mailing list that I know of. You just sign up, pay your fee and go. It’s really nicely set up.

Not really. Elvira is FAR too heavy to move as a unit by anyone. I mean, that’s exactly why he built the crawler. He hand built that, he didn’t buy it so it cost less than half of what it would have had he bought it. Don’t disparage someone’s methods just because you can’t afford it or you don’t have the skills to build it. Would you have said that if you knew he had a physical inability to move such a scope? I doubt it. Go figure…
