Good work SENSEI keep exploring and find as much answers to kata moves secret as it has become just exercise nowadays

Morio Higaonna would use this technique when we did Sanchin kata. I always thought that there were more than one reason for doing this: 1) For sensei to know how solid and rooted our stance was 2) For the student to maintain focus and not allow for a distraction 3) Be able to perform the kata properly even with pain

The word OSS is never used in Okinawan Dojo, it is not well accepted in Okinawa.
whats happening, I think, are the joints (particularly in the arm) are being compressed. The 'unbreakable arm' techniques teach the same thing. Its a way of partially tensing and causing the joints to compress. This makes it relatively easy to take hard hits and not move (or redirect some of that force back to the person 'striking'). Once you 'get it', you can apply it across the whole body (or, to one specific area).

Now bring in a Wing Chun and Tai Chi Chuan Fa expert to counter test the effectiveness of Kaki training!
I thought patting helps you absorb energy from ground and at the same time it will help you maintain balance and stance

Great video on technique refinement. I truly believe that the Western equivalent is hitting a heavy bag and light bag with graduated levels of power, focusing on technique. This is found in both Western and Thai boxing training. If one hits a heavy bag with poor technique, the feedback will result BOTH in aching joints and low power transmission which will ultimately be evident when sparring. Please tell me what you think of this idea! Thank you!

You mean striking bags right? It's also good for training posture and sttiking power, but this kind of corrective tapping also , depending on how hard the taps are, trains pain tolerance and teaches your body how to keep and correct its posture in a fight where your movements might get interfered by the enemy.
