That’s too much these are people 😢 and how about sure- we can help these migrants- just like we can help American citizens...even if OK does get it 474million...it’s not going to help the needy Americans in Oklahoma...anymore than any other federal or state funds...at least helping migrants is helping someone in need...you know in Oklahoma you aren’t even eligible for food stamps unless you have a job- The last state that needs to wagging fingers is Oklahoma...and the last man that should say anything is a Bible salesman representing a state with what I hope is the lowest minimum wage in the country? I mean the people in Oklahoma are driving to Arkansas for hourly employment... the migrants can help you get your state act together - can’t make it any worse...but sure waste more time and money on practical jokes while you’re children get piddled at a school where they will be taught from a book written in a language they will never understand...and may never even learn their first language well enough to form a society where a second language is common...because of these stupid stunts that the children see and hear and live instead

Can’t deny any child an education according to federal law. And when you think about it, keeping them uneducated and poor would only be a further drain on the economy for generations to come. They should be deported as quickly as possible, but if they’re here they do need an education. What they’re not getting though is an appropriate education. Schools don’t have the infrastructure to handle this many ESL cases from this many different countries. No one can teach these kids if they come halfway through the school year, don’t speak English, and don’t have any prerequisite knowledge because they didn’t go to school in their own country.

He is correct I taught in Oklahoma for 36 years. I’m hearing that from a lot of teachers that they’re burden has been increased 100 fold without any compensation and they feel like they are letting the kids down all the kids. They do their best to help the illegal immigrants kids as well, but they can’t be successful with them because those poor kids have never been taught the way our kids have they should not be into the classroom because that affects a lot of other kids adversely and it’s not a good situation. Good job ryan I’m glad u brought that issue up!! let us know if we get any money. I’ll be holding my breath.😂

Yep, I taught for 16 years, and my last two years they had me teaching my subject matter to ESL classes. Why? Because I happen to speak Spanish (no, I am not of Latin descent, and my subject matter vocabulary was nonexistent). But that was too much. Aside from the fact that these kids don’t speak English - and I had other students who spoke languages I’d never heard of, so the Spanish I spoke was not a perfect solution - they also had not regularly been to school in their own countries. So they were ignorant on ALL fronts. But because of their AGE, they were dropped into an Algebra 2 class, and I was expected to teach them the content so they could pass the district tests. I couldn’t even write my own tests lol. The job was impossible. The expectations were laughable. I had to give so much extra credit that the class was a joke (by any academic standard) or I would get harassed about my failure rates. What do you expect with kids with a 3rd grade education who don’t speak English taking district tests filled with complex algebra 2 word problems? The kids tried their hardest (most of them were really sweet), and I worked my butt off. Our education system is too inept and the funding is too poor to handle a challenge like this. The system isn’t handling the crisis at all. It’s individual teachers who are being burdened by this immigration crisis, and some of us are quitting in record numbers. The districts will take any student they can get because that means more attendance funding for them. If anybody needs this money, it’s the teachers being forced to work overtime to prep for these impossible classes.
