Really enjoying your videos, it’s really encouraging us to get back into boating. You both seem a lot like us, laid back and take it as it comes. We like the idea of an older boat (nostalgic) but would want to have the power plant new. We have been looking, but have not found the right one. We have 30 months before I retire, we will likely sell our 24 acre homestead in East Texas and relocate to a property that requires less farm work and more relaxation. Hope you enjoy Oklahoma (our home state), the eastern part of the state is the nicest, you want be far from Tulsa once you get to Catoosa. As a retired police officer, we had call boxes all around downtown OKC that our officer would frequently stop and call in. I didn’t join the department until 1985, at that time we had two way radios in our patrol cars, but did not have hand held radios, so if you were out of the car dealing with a situation and you needed back up, you’d hope a passer by or someone would call in for you to get some help. When we got hand held radios, officer safety increased drastically. It was a great career, retired in 2008 and took to my second career.

Getting over pressure on your fuel system. The return line is pinched or clogged. I had the same thing happen on our old P&H crawler crane. The mechanic replacing the fuel lines reversed the lines on the tank causing it to over pressure. Also I had an employee drop 30 galls of gas into my saddle tank on my frieghtliner. New CAT diesel it ran OK lol till we burned (smoked a bit) it out. I don’t know what you put in your morning coffee to work that fast, but please share😂. Be safe God Bless
@CruisingThisOldBoat3 ай бұрын
@@RLoose9494 - everyone I talked to said it was an over pressure issue so you are spot on! It was the first time I dealt with gas in my tank so I had no idea what would happen. The marina consulted with a mechanic and he said it would destroy my engine if I ran on it so they decided to pump it out. So it’s interesting to hear that you have run with gas in your tank. Diesel ignites under extreme pressure, gas needs a ignition source.........my opinion the gas cant ignite, but would interfere with the ignition of the diesel fuel ........but, the un burned gas may wash out the cylinders and do damage to the rings and some probably winds up in crankcase.......i had a bad plug wire on a car , by not firing that one cylinder had no compression, got washed out with gas

Ron, I noticed in one clip that you were painting the topside of your trunk cabin. The deck on my DeFever 43 desperately needs repainting and I am wavering back and forth between hiring it out or trying to do it myself. What paint did you use and how was the prep work (i.e. sanding, etc)?
@CruisingThisOldBoat3 ай бұрын
@@BradHines-y8f - Hi Brad: I just did general sanding mostly because I had epoxied all the screw holes and gouges left from removing the teak. Then I used Petit EZPrime and EZPoxy paint. Seems to be holding up well. Anywhere I need non-skid I use EZDecks. It probably doesn’t look as good as a professional job but it is a 40 year old boat.
