Ken I have a question for you about beer! When I was in Porto it was almost impossible to find a restaurant/bar that served Sagres, they all had Super Bock or even Spanish beers... so my question: is Sagres served around Castelo Branco? I found it so strange that there was this North/South split between the two main domestic beers in such a small country, would love to know what goes on in Castelo Branco!

@OKportugal6 ай бұрын
Thanks, the traffic here is very minimal but the driving can be a bit bad so im cautious when entering or leaving roundabouts. These bikes have a warranty in case anything goes wrong but if you get a flat type or need a service there's a couple of bike shops around central Portugal and the prices for work is very good.

Sure we got ours from Leroy Merlin. They are called Aire+ 2 way multi splits. We got 2 of them to cover 4 rooms. The installation worked out at 900 for both splits and they work fantasticly. Hi Ken. Hope you had a lovely birthday & enjoyed your steak 🍻 There’s something I’m curious about and I wonder if you have an answer? I follow a lot of homesteaders and the majority seem to be in the Castelo Branco region. I’ve also looked into the climatic zones of Portugal, and the Castelo Branco region is classified as having the harshest winters AND the harshest summers (and most prone to fires) so why do so many people buy their property there? The north might have wetter cooler winters but it’s much greener and less oven-like in summer, and the area spanning out from Coimbra seems to have the most equitable climate. Is it down to the relative prices of land/property, or is there another reason? This question has been bugging me for a while 😂
@OKportugal6 ай бұрын
Hi Anna, when we moved here 5 years ago we focused on this region due to the fact that it was the cheapest place where we could afford the house and land we were after. Since we moved here and started vlogging, a lot of other people have moved here and the prices have gone up due to the demand. The North is cooler (in winter and summer) but for the last 5 years they seem to have had more fires than us, so I'm not sure why that is. I love central portugal as I'm inly 2-5 hours away from Porto, Lisbon, the Algarve or France. And I have wonderful neighbours too 😊 To answer your question quickly, I think a lot of people chose this area due to the prices and the types of properties available.
@AnnaAdventuring6 ай бұрын
@@OKportugal Thank you Ken for your comprehensive reply 🙏🏻 I thought it might be mainly to do with the price of land/property 👍🏻 It’s another 18 months - 2 years until I can seriously start looking at buying, so let’s see where prices are then 🤔 It is the major factor for most of us looking to move.
@feestuart24996 ай бұрын
Hi Ken thank you for sharing Castelo Branco! I also avoid buying Chinese made products as manufacturers use forced labour (research Uyghur community) Happy Birthday!
@OKportugal6 ай бұрын
Oh no I really don't want to Google that as I'm sure it's horrible, I normally avoid those types of cheap products due to how badly they are made and how quickly they break. Never thought about how they are actually made and who is making them!
@I_Santos_6 ай бұрын
Hey Ken, honest question. Those e bikes seem like pretty awesome and quiet way to get around your area, but for the slightly longer journeys have you considered getting a small motorbike or scooter? You seem to be ok on two wheels and I imagine the costs of a scooter or small motorbike wouldn’t be astronomical while giving you a bit more flexibility for slightly longer trips around the area. I personally have a motorcycle and e bike so I can see the appeal of both, just wondering your thoughts. Thanks once again for the great video taking us along on your peaceful adventures!
@OKportugal6 ай бұрын
Yes for sure, I'd love an adventure bike like a BMW GS, but I need to get a bike license, in portugal, and I'm still learning the language. Also I'm not 100% sure that I'll be OK on a bike as I have weird balance issues. They don't affect me as much on bicycles as in cars but it's a worry of mine if I'm moving fast on a bike.
@I_Santos_6 ай бұрын
That’s totally fair, it was just a suggestion. Imma big fan of adventure bikes myself too. That said, I’ve had a blast on small 2-300cc bikes and even scooters. Doesn’t need to be a super fast machine to get you around nearby towns, besides you still have the car for proper trips. But anyhow, I’m just here overthinking your life haha. You seem to be getting along just fine and you know your situation and preferences best. Cheers!
