She is certainly honest about herself and her adventures. She was the best when she competed. She made the others look like dead wood especially that Corrigan woman. It was a cold sight.....to me. Cold on cold but Oksana always warmed up the ice as her competitors did not.

Shortly after the 1994 olympics she and Victor Petranko and Ekatarina Gordyava ( I’m sure I butchered the spelling) moved into town to train, they built a huge rink in town for them and it was surreal seeing them in person. I remember seeing this beautiful little petite girl that was very shy but she smiled at everyone. She ( and all of the skaters) were very sweet and just blended in.

Ukraine humor is very different than American humor. I don't think she was sure of herself on the show. I admire her talent, aritstry, perserverence, and her guts, she wrote a book. Many people have a story and never share it with the world.

She would have been about 17 then, mid-teens. If it's in 1995 like the notes say. But at 5:47 she says she's 20. So it must have been more like 1997 or 1998. She was 16 at the 1994 Winter Olympics, which was in February of 1994.

Dick Button was a terrific commentator and a former Olympian. I think he knew the difference between a double and a tripple axel as he was the first to land both in competition. Dick Button was a two-time Olympic champion (1948, 1952) and five-time World champion (1948-1952). He is also the only non-European man to have become European champion. Button is credited as having been the first skater to successfully land the double Axel jump in competition in 1948, as well as the first triple jump of any kind - a triple loop - in 1952. He also invented the flying camel spin. Is there anything else you would like to say Oxana that shows your lack of knowledge and you just talking off your head in silliness and thus disparaging one of figure skating's greats? (You too Rosie.) Rosie wasn't happy until she got Baiul to say something negative about Button. They were both so disrespectful of him. I have watched figure skating for over 50 years. Button was very knowledgeable about figure skating and had a very artistic sensibility and unlike anyone else I have ever seen as commentator he knew the angles of the leg positions in spins so well and knew which angles were correct and which were the most beautiful. I miss Dick Button as a commentator to this very day. He had an eye for certain aspects of figure skating technique that no one else has. He is sorely missed.
@RaymondHng2 жыл бұрын
Button was the first one to land a double Axel in competition, but not the first one to land triple Axel. The first triple Axel in competition was performed by Canadian Vern Taylor at the 1978 World Championships. The first male skater to complete a triple Axel during the Olympics was Canadian skater Brian Orser in 1984.

The score include also artistic and choreography elements, not only jumps. Plus, she introduced jumps at the end of the program which are scored with more points because of the fatigue. She won square. Kerrigan's program took fly just in the second part of the program, Baiul was skating beautifully from the start of it. And by the way I saw kerrigan skating in 1998 in las vegas in a show. She did not land a jump and she said she did not have time to practice but she got the money!! Baiul is still skating and her professional career has been flourishing. SHE IS the Real olympic champion.
