Ok..well this is in Munich and oriented for both Germans and tourists.Right now my home twin city in southern Ontario is prepping for their annual Oktoberfest, which is genuinely the biggest in Canada. Our city area historically has been Mennonite and German based. There were 4 German clubs in our city when I was a teen living there. My high school played oompapah music over the intercom in morning. There was an Oktoberfest assembly /performances for hr. in gymn, etc. A few of my German-Canadian classmates dressed in dirndls and 1 guy only in lederhosen shorts. Yes, folks had last name of Weber, Epp, Schmidt, Jantzen, etc. So German. And our historic street areas do have German street names...still. Yes, I know as a Chinese-Canadian I do have German culture touchpoints, including my dear partner who died a few yrs. ago who was a child immigrant from Germany.
