Setting the centrifugal at 1 or 2? I have the 350 and use it for pike (probably a little overkill) and catfish. I always have my centrifugal set on this reel at 6, maximum. Even at that it seems too little. I have to have the cast control knob tighter than I like, reducing casting distance. It seems like the heavier the lure, the worse it is. Double 7 bucktails do fine, but double 10s really want to backlash the line unless the cast control is set quite tight... even with the centrifugal on 6. Spoons in the 1 to 1 1/2 oz range do fine. Am I doing something wrong? Is there some way to get the centrifugal brake to have more effect? Most of my other baitcasters are Quantums and Abu (low profile) and those typically have the magnetic brakes set around 1/3 to 1/2 for 90% of my fishing... and that's with the cast control knob pretty loose.

I see the newer version of my reel has the little tabs you manually click out to engage those centrifugal brakes. Is the braking system on the new spool able to have more effect than the older dial version? If so, could I put the newer style spool in my older (a year old) reel?

I owned a Komodo 471p for about 8 hours. I called it the back lash king! I was very very bummed when I had no more settings to bail me out. I could not cast a 3oz bait on the highest brake setting. I’m used to flinging out baits on a tranx 400 and curado 300.

There are not many videos about the Okuma sbx. I'd like to buy one but I'd like more information and reviews by people who have used it. The grip is unique and I'd like to know if it's comfortable. I'd be especially happy if the turners near me carried the rod so that I could hold it in store. They have the guide select "a" and the shadow stalkers. But no sbx : ( I talked to the people who worked there and they said that if it's not on the website they wouldn't have it. Perhaps you could sign the deal or whatever to allow turners to sell the rod just like the guide select "a" I would like to buy it but need more info first. I plan to buy it in June of 2017. Please help

+end less They are both bathed in Corrosion X and have been through many saltwater seasons. they should hold up nicely for you.
