Ola, do you just open the plugins and play? Whenever i open my Overloud TH 3 and play my guitar directly into it, it sounds muddy and canned. But if i record my guitat tracks in a DAW first and then process them via Overloud - they sound okay. What's wrong? How do you guys just plug and play a vst ? Axiom is my fave amp software. They think completely differently to other devs. The three building blocks not only make amps, they make tape sims, EQs, strange efx which aren't even trying to be "amps", etc. And their low and mid gain amps are done better by them than anyone. Chimy Fenders and Vox (- like sounds), in which you can hear the power tubes breathing. And that labyrinth surrounding the main window can be jacked with freely, and you can place efx before or after the amp setup. And their reverb/delay system is like an entirely other plugin in its own right. It's very deep in what you can do with it. Axiom is great. If whoever's reading this is trying to decide, just buy it.

I've been using Bluecat's Patchwork for a long time, I love it. It does the same things but without any built-in amps or effects. I don't think it has A to B switching either...so same but different. I like that it loads a good bit faster than my DAW. It is also about $50 cheaper than Axiom. So if you already have your own favorite guitar sims and don't need any more, Patchwork is a good alternative.

Probably what was most interesting to me is how you can shape the pre-amp with an IR. You can get all those nuances between Marshall amps and tighten them up as you please. It makes BIAS Amp seem like child’s play without being overwhelming like other modellers (revalver). Oh - and the sound quality is great, it got a near perfect score from honest amp sim reviews .com That and the effects sound great for guitar, they aren’t all whacky and inapplicable. I also tried re-guitar in the axiom and it works amazing turning my P90 into a chunky chug machine. All in all, amazing.
@xPowerShotx4 жыл бұрын
I tried this out, the high gain amp modeling is plain bad, the clean tones are fine, the crunch just ok. The A/B mixing seams to be the strong point, and that it can host other vst. There are free alternative, but miss the A/B mix. Like revalver can host other vst, and the free option Elements vst hoster. To convince me, just try to get a good plexi tone out of axiom. You wont make it, not even with an IR's on this one. If your really got the amp sim in this one as a perfect score you beat me, it cant be biased views. But as an vst hoster and setups it has potensial in the way you can ad your own stuff in to it.
@irrelevantfish19784 жыл бұрын
Dude, you missed the coolest and most unique features of the plugin: those that allow you to effectively CREATE your own gear. You can do everything from tweaking the conventional (like changing the center frequency of the treble knob on a Fender Twin) to birthing crazy hybrids (like an AC30 that "cleans up" into a Mesa Boogie) to summoning horrors from guitar techs' worst nightmares, and that's just in the amp section. Many of the FX are also heavily customizable, particularly BlueCat's delay (I'm blanking on the name), which is almost as tweakable as Axiom itself (you can actually arpeggiate the repeats). Yeah, Axion may be a great way to combine, organize, and route third-party plugins, but if that's all you use it for, you're REALLY missing out.

Hi, sorry, noob question here. What programs must be used with the axiom bluecat audio? What would be a good VST / AAX compatible host software? Thanks
@danielgaudet61145 жыл бұрын
It actually has two different ways to use it as part of the same license: standalone and plugin. It can ran standalone in Windows and OSX without any need for a DAW making it one less thing to worry about if you are using it live. For the plugin, it can be used in pretty much with any DAW that can use VST, VST3, AU (OSX), or AAX. If you are using Pro Tools, it also allows you to load VST/VST3/[AU(MAC)] plugins in Axiom within Pro Tools (like a number of other Blue Cat Audio plugins). They don't seem to make this point obvious on the Axiom's web page that it can be used as standalone and as a plugin, but if you look at page 5 of the manual, it does mention the two different ways you can use it (standalone and plugin).
