This has been Ola reporting live, now it's back to Ola in the studio

I've tested many transposer guitar plug-ins and the only one that does it most accurately is Hypertune from Polychrome DSP, it works with single notes and complex chords, that stuff is pure magic in term of accuracy and latency.
@korayem2 ай бұрын
Same conclusion here and I've used a lot, including Neural DSP, helix native, ..etc
@Michael-px6wm2 ай бұрын
The real magic is to take a rackmount tube preamp for 500€ and get better output and sound performance than any processor can offer, a pedalboard will cost the same and add another 300$ to buy a Lexicon FX, it's cheaper than any processor and has better sound quality

Great stuff, love the assassin btw. Will you ever make an A style 22/21 fret? Neck pickups just sound so nice further up! I've got 2 solars already that do most of what I want but I'm not sure I'm cool enough to pull off an X type for the 22 fret! There's a bunch of us still using fishman'd strats and Les Pauls for 22 fret but it's just never as cool looking as an all black atg style solar with an Evertune!
@Edwardobartolo2 ай бұрын
The best to do it is still the Digitech drop. If you need to drop tune then it’s worth it to have one on your board along with your modeler.
@t_separator2 ай бұрын
Ah I don’t think so. I tested the Drop vs. the kemper transpose function. The drop was much slower and had more artifacts. But I have to say I drop from a Drop G# to F#. The lower source tuning is the harder it gets for any downshifting device.
@Durkhead2 ай бұрын
@@t_separatordid you put the digitech before or after the distortion?
@Edwardobartolo2 ай бұрын
@@t_separator yea I’d say it definitely depends on what tuning you’re in. I’m 90% standard E and drop D. I can get five semitones down with it still sounding pretty decent. Don’t get me wrong I’m not recording, just doing covers. But it fits my needs.
@t_separator2 ай бұрын
@@Durkhead before. Always
@t_separator2 ай бұрын
@@Edwardobartolo yeah thats what I meant. In my case I can go 2 semitones max in either direction.
@multimike20302 ай бұрын
I've been using the pitch shifter block in the QC without any glitching or delay. I use it with my 7 string to either go down a whole step to d standard with a low A, up a half step to go to f with a low C, and down 5 half steps to b standard with a low F# for 8 string stuff. I saw the transpose block in the latest update, but i saw it doesnt have fine tuning like the pitch shifter does, so i didnt bother with it. Guess it artifacts a bit more so ill be avoiding it for right now.
@Ryan_Messenger2 ай бұрын
That's a nice piece of kit. Once they allow us to import our own presets from the plugins I'll consider one for my band. As a work around, if you tone matched it, wouldn't that import the preset?

The sound quality when using transpose surely takes a hit as it becomes less tight the further down you go in semitones. But no artifacts here, even at -10 semitones, just like when I use the plugins.

I use the Poly-Capo on the Helix all the time. Maybe it's because I'm aging, but this specific feature in these modelers is the most impressive to me. Enough to record with? Probably not, but it's more than enough to play along with stuff in my home without sounding like ass.

@bssmackjack It's very useful for learning tunes without having to retune or keep a bunch of guitars in different tunings. I'm kind of tempted to get a Variax to make this even easier, because the Variax can even handle different tunings where the intervalic relationships between the strings change.

I sold mine early on because of the transpose. I only needed it to go up a half step and it instantly crapped out. I’ve got the soldano x plugin and it also craps out going up a half step so I still won’t buy this unit. Seem to work decent going down but the up is bad. You’d think in 2 years it would actually work.

Plugin Presets functionality is still not integrated in Cortex Control. Info from FAQ section of Neural DSP website: Can I use my plugin presets on Quad Cortex? Not yet, but in a future update Cortex Control (the Quad Cortex desktop controller) will be the bridge between “X” plugins and Quad Cortex. Cortex Control will allow you to scan your plugin presets folders, parse your presets for your Quad Cortex-compatible plugins, and import those Presets to your Quad Cortex.
@kariskgtr2 ай бұрын
Actually the plugin presets are there. You just go to preset tab and search for "plugin presets" tab. But remember that's just plugin factory presets, not all the presets that you've made in the plugin.... In this video Ola just scroll the plugin factory presets, not the presets that he made... And don't forget to update latest Cortex Control to work with CorOs 3.0

Hi Ola, in fact, if you play on an analog sound, then you can always hear the digital one, it “buzzes” with highs, they create a lot of high-frequency hiss, the sound is “flat”, there is no blurriness and viscousness, and by the way, I want to give you amazing iR that you will not find anywhere, and the sound on the recording will be as if you hear a live guitar cabinet, just let me know and I will give you a link, for viewers in the comments my iR will also be useful. This processor is just awful, just like all of them.
