Also, very nice to finally see a demo of the correct use of the head apparel they included too. I really enjoy eating those little sachets they include with new gear, a couple of those on a baguette and I'm set for the day. 🥖

I used to have a roland microcube, it was awesome. I bought a katana mini hoping it was going to be similar. It was close enough, but they cut the tuning fork, and effects. This one seems like it's closer to what the microcube was like, and a genuine improvement.

I have the Boss Katana 50 first generation and the thing is just a powerhouse of an amp. I prefer it over my Peavy Vypr and my old Fender Princeton Chorus.

Loved your comment at the end about it just working - 20 years down the line! I've just got back from a singaround where I was using my original Roland Micro Cube that I bought when they first came out - over 20 years ago - and it's still got lovely Fender and Vox voicings.... I was never that impressed by its JC voicing and the hard rock/metal voicings do nothing for me... but those two in the middle are just sublime. A good amp always comes through!

I have a Katana mk2 head and it honestly rules so hard. The 5150 modeler with deep cab and my 7 string is fjorking tasty. Plus when I don't have space or room to use my cab it just has a .5w and 7w practice amo built right into the head. It's so good dude.

I had the original katana mini and really liked it, it def had some downsides which this version addressed(rechargeable, tuner, more effects). I think they dropped the ball however not including an audio interface option which would have really made it useful. Then it would have been a real competitor for the Yamaha THR amps, especially being about half the price.

I'll be honest with you: The original Mini seems to sound better than the new version. I have one myself, and it is impressive even today (considering its size and niche). This newer version didn't impress me at all. The original one is simpler but responds awesomely with pedals, turning it into a VERY good practice amp if you have a couple of pedals. These built in effects in this one are mediocre at maximum.
