I've never had to connect to a pc because after a while you become so fast with the knobs and buttons you don't even have to look, though saying that im very intrigued by the sharing concept and testing chains others have made. Yeah, it's the biggest bang for the buck of all guitar pedals, IMO... The kicker for me was how good it handled my acoustic guitars... the GT1000 core has AMAZING effects. The presets for modern metals are definitely lacking and so are the cab sim options. I think the amp models Boss created for the unit, like the Juggernaut and the X High-gain Modded sound incredible, especially for tuning low. One of the things that disappointed me a bit with it is that one can't change more than one parameter with the CTL 1, but at least the preset management is pretty good. One thing i've been thinking of trying out is using both the HX Stomp and GT1000 core together, like putting the Stomp in the FX loop of the Core to use it's drive, amp and cab sims and using the Core for it's amazing FX. Does anyone have thoughts on how that would work?

Knowing that it was possible for you to dial up one of your custom patches for Core, Ola, can you tell me if this thing includes a band pass filter in the EQ section? My goal that I have achieved to some extent using other effects units and stomp boxes has always been approximating the Boston electric guitar sound from the late 70s. What would be neat is if what I have gotten from my present distortion generator (the Goat Generator from Rancher) could be duplicated in the mainframe of this thing, a classic Plexi tone with huge midrange boost.

Hey Ola! Unrelated but maybe for your next FAQ: Since you're a mac guy I was wondering if you want to or plan to upgrade any of your macs to those with the new M1 chips? Even most PC nerds acknowledge they're some serious advantages to those vs the intel based macs you own but also, kind of an expensive upgrade maybe?
@brythecracker3 жыл бұрын
Like Ola said, “if you don’t have any other pedals and you want to keep things simple”, this pedal makes sense. However, multi-effect programmable pedals have (3) major drawbacks. First, because of the endless configuration options, you may suffer “paralysis from analysis”. Second, you can’t place a name with a face like you can with a 1 trick pony pedal. Third, “Chasing Tone” is a disease for which there is no cure, only treatments. People with this disease are often referred to as pedal-holics. To date, there are only (2) forms of treatment; The first and most expensive, is a new guitar or amp, which can be extremely effective and long lasting. The second and most popular treatment, is the Pedal. Pedals are usually a more affordable treatment, but the effects are not normally as long lasting. It’s a sad disease, if you suspect you or a loved one may be suffering from this disease, talk to your Sweetwater representative to explore treatment options😉

Buy a Fractal Audio Axe FX III and be done with all need for pedals ever. That's what I told myself 4 years ago when I sold off my two pedalboards and went AXE III --> RME UFX+ --> FRFR. It's not like Boss developers don't know how to write algo that interpret IR's properly. The Roland Corp. is pretty exceptional in that regard (see TD-50x Processor) and Boss has significant resources to make it happen.
