Thank you for your comment from Alaska. It's a pity that my radio-controlled ship is not in the living room. They are in the attic and parking lot. I am impressed with the patience and effort put into making your plane.

Really hope to build one myself my worry is the lack of technical experience and how I'm gonna get the thing from my garage to an airport to get the wings put on. But financially it's my only option to build it. Should be a s*it ton of fun though :)

Hi, I just watched your videos about the construction of your Kitfox S7, and I wanted to say congratulations on such an amazing project! Your work is truly impressive. Would it be possible to ask you a few technical questions in private? I’d really appreciate your insights.Thank you!

I assumed a Carbon Cub was carbon fiber but it appears to be tube & fabric construction so why is it called a Carbon Cub?
@Olavb16 жыл бұрын
Some parts are made of Carbon Fiber. Cockpit interior, cowling, wingtip and more...

What does it cost for a full build like this when done by yourself?

how easy does the wings come off for storage conveniency.
@olavbergersen61099 жыл бұрын
JJ's . The wings are boltet to the fuselage and the struts and not constructed for removel. It is of course possible, but you have to replace some nuts and safety pins when you rebuild it later. The ailron wires and the flap connection must be disconnected. I would not recomend it.

What is the frame made of?
@Olavb1 Жыл бұрын
Steel
@khadijagwen8 жыл бұрын
Since you say "Carbon Cub" does that mean many of the components are Carbon Fibre? It looked like the wing ribs and certain other parts are aluminum, but it certainly did seem that the fuselage was mostly Carbon tubing.
@reefym26276 жыл бұрын
Khadijah Brown fiber*
@Flatlandmike5 жыл бұрын
Fuse tubing is metal
@michaelrice5005 жыл бұрын
carbon fiber pressure cowling, floor pan, interior panels, baggage. The tubing for the fuselage is 4130 steel, fabric over that; the wing spars and ribs are aluminum and also fabric covered.

Carbon Cub is supposedly the best STOL aircraft...with tundra tires it can land almost anywhere, save for dense forests. And you can use (amphibious) floats. The engine must be able to use mogas though...
@michaelrice5005 жыл бұрын
100 Low lead. Use mogas and risk detonation in a high compression engine. Anphibs can be fitted to many aircraft, but they are ridiculously expensive.

Base kit around $75,000 with no engine or avionics. So another 50-70k. A decent equipped carbon cub built yourself will run you 130-170,000
@SniperMro16 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you're looking at around 350k for a finished xcub

Carbon cubs are definitely high end bush planes. My little Piper cost about as much as a decent used Subaru wagon and much less than the kid down the street's diesel pickup.

Somewhat misleading title - "Assembly of a Carbon Cub from prefabricated parts and subassemblies" would be more appropriate. Still, its a lovely plane.

Hmm, very complex construction for a not very sophisticated craft. Much simpler design must be possible
