My grandmother used the original (pink bottle, black top) Oil of Olay her entire life. She died at 94 with barely a wrinkle. I didn't start using it until my 30's - I wish I had started using it earlier. I use it on my face, neck and back of my hands. It's a perfect light moisturizer.

My 15 year old daughter asked me to buy her the Olay Whips with the spf 25. I was SHOCKED at the price, $38 at Ulta. I had points a coupon and I used Ebates and went ahead and ordered it for her. I’m just glad she is wearing some sunscreen everyday and I’m also glad she is using moisturizer. She used to think moisturizer gave her acne. We both respect your opinion so I’m hoping I can convince her to switch to my beloved CeraVe. 🤞

When I was 23, I knew a lady who was 35 & was obsessed w Olay. I tried so many of their products & just couldn’t find one that worked. Esp for the price (my cerave was so much cheaper!) But I thought, man. Her skin looks so good for an “old lady”!! 😂 I need to use Olay too!! Now I’m 37 & realize, 35 isn’t so old after all! And her skin was NOT good!! I agree with you about the consistency of these products. I always wondered why such a creamy feeling product left me underwhelmed with the moisturizing results. I was surprised at how underwhelming these products were for you 😂 I am a male with super dry, super sensitive skin with massive pores. I’ve tried every product to make sure I don’t leave the house with peeling and enflamed skin. Olay is the only product that works for me and I like all their products. I use the whipped regenerist fragrance free. I love how it feels on my skin, makes my skin look smooth and radiant and minimizes the appearance of my pores and it lasts all day. I’m definitely not a doctor, but when someone asks what I use, I always recommend Olay moisturizers… thank you for your wonderful videos!

I hate when they call moisturizers serums. There is a big difference between the two, imo, so why they do that is beyond me. Just call it a weightless moisturizer so people know what they are buying. I had to return the Olay serum because I agree that it is just a meh moisturizer, maybe something decent for oily skin and those who like a one step skin prep and have oily skin and don’t need the moisture that much. I appreciate the honesty on these products, especially since they are comparing them to $200 moisturizers and even send out beads that expand with their products while barely plump up with others. I work at a nursing home and almost every patient buys the micro sculpt cream and I wasn’t all that impressed with it either. There are far better products for the same or lower prices. I prefer their old school products more than their newer products actually, like the Olay Complete that is a really nice product with a low spf.

The older Regenerist serum in the white bottle--the one Dr. Dray recommends-- is wonderful for me. I've been using it on and off for years, when Costco stocks it (much more product for the 30-odd dollars). Using it consistently 2x/day for a couple of weeks gives my face a velvety smooth feel. I usually use it with moisturizer or under sunscreen/primer.

This brand overview for these Olay moisturizers was very helpful and timely. Since I have somewhat 'normal' skin, I was considering investing on one of the Olay whip creams. However, as you also mentioned, the price-tag is somewhat staggering to me. Moreover, I am looking for something that I am more likely to want to re-apply throughout my day. I will keep doing my own research on this.

It’s so hard getting out of the “habit”, when I’ve been religiously using Olay products for years, including some of the ones you’ve mentioned. I’d LOVE to try the Colorescience products you talk about, as they even have a face powder you can buy with Spf too, but the Colorescience products are even more expensive than the Olay ones. I might try out the Cerave cream and face wash though, to compare it to what I’ve been using from Olay. Thank you for your input every day. I love and appreciate all of your reviews, and you’ve been inspiring me to be more diligent with sun protection. * I will add that when looking at the amount of product you get with the Cerave cream & cleanser, it’s definitely more worth it!

I use the Olay regenerist products and do agree with the drawbacks you've mentioned regarding ongoing moisturising factor; however, so far it's one of the only skin care ranges I've tried where I don't immediately have a reaction to it (I do okay with Garnier too). I personally find that especially in winter that Olay's night cream can be a better daytime moisturiser as well. I always hear that there's better and cheaper stuff out there (in terms of supermarket brands), and some I've tried with the usual red, burning, skin flaring and itching results, so I tend to head back to what I know (at least after several years of use) won't make my skin decide to declare a revolt. After hearing so many good reviews though I am going to try a small bottle of Cerave moisturiser, when I've run out my Olay stuff, and see how that goes in terms of my skin.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for mentioning xanthan gum! I just recently was gifted a sample tub of Hawaiian Aloe Cream at a Natural Living Expo last month, while I was at the booth the sales woman was being suuuuper pushy so this person I had been talking to very kindly gifted me one of his mini tubs so I didn't have to cave and spend an outrageous amount on this "today only deal" on some cream she was claiming would completely clear up my rosacea and eczema and the sample mini tub would only last me 3 days so I better buy now or miss out cause you can't get it anywhere else (a lie, I later found it on their site AND on Amazon). I was already skeptical about this magical cream but as soon as she said that I was like "Ok nope, you don't get my money" and I'm SO GLAD I didn't buy any, because I was only using a small amount (very thick gel-cream, and this .75 oz tub would certainly last me a few months!) but I was getting this terrible "mask" feeling on the areas I would use it, it actually felt like I was wearing a mud mask or something, it was really gross. So after you mentioned xanthan gum, I looked up the ingredients on this cream, and what do I see listed? Yup, xanthan gum. So now thanks to you I know one more ingredient to avoid because I hate the heavy coated feeling it gives me. And I also know now not to bother with the Olay cream! Thanks for saving me precious dollars!

Just wanted to give Dr Dray and everyone the knowledge that Aveeno's Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 mineral sunscreen that is labeled fragrance free is NOT fragrance Free. Late, but the CeraVe SA cream in the UK leaves an unpleasant film as well and smells like glue. Do I still use it? Yes. The formula is better than the US equivalent. Less salicylic acid, more niacinamide, contains 10% urea, contains L'Oreal's LHA. But I would prefer a more emollient finish rather than the dry, leathery formula they came up with

Using Olay makes my skin bright, hydrated, black spots disappear, skin feels tight, acne disappears, my oily skin is reduced, since using; Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 + Olay Regenerist Sculpting Serum. Olay really helps my skin. In fact, using CeraVe my skin dull, maybe because it wasn't suitable.😁

I love your happy dance ! Olay has sooo many products and expensive for what they are. I'm so glad I've learned better from you😊 that sticky film is dreadful! Are you ready for Christmas? It's just around the corner. I can't believe how fast Volgamas has gone 😳☃️☃️☃️☃️

You're reviews are so spot on! The Regenerist serum was my gateway to niacinamide, but the Microsculpting cream was yukky.

Curious for your thoughts on the Maelove line. Particularly the glow maker, glycolic night cream and sunscreen. They are a new ish brand, but seem to have a lot of positive buzz for not a lot of nonsense ingredients and affordable

Hi Dr. Dray. What about the ingredient DMDM Hydantoin that is suppose to be a formaldehyde releaser. On Brianna's channel, she was slamming Sunday Riley for having that ingredient in the Good Genes. Oil of Olay has it in most of the products. What are your thoughts of the safety?
@DrDrayzday5 жыл бұрын
that is not poison...it is an important preservative to prevent bacteria from colonizing your skin care...you can become allergic to it, but that can happen to anything...fragrance is the most common allergen, and most of these sites and blogs that demonize the preservatives, promote fragrance containing products which are more likely to cause harm

I learned about you channel in the comment section of one of Tati's videos. I love her for make-up but now I love you for skin care! Have you tried the Tatcha water cream moisturizer? I'd be interested in that as I currently use it but only when I don't need much hydration. You also saved me from getting a Clarisonic!

Firstly, thank you for providing an expert’s review of skincare product products. That said, as a 75 yo, who has been marketed to by skincare companies for most of her life, I’d like to comment on customer satisfaction with products. As a lay person, the science you present here is informative, but most of the marketing in skincare is subjective, and relies heavily on esthetics. As one of those lay people, I tend to base my satisfaction with a product on several things: #1 price. If it’s out of a price point for the amount of product I find untenable, I don’t consider it further. Next, I look for fragrance-free, as that is foremost in my decision process. I also highly rate how the product feels on my skin. Is it too thick, too thin, is it easily applied? So many products are difficult to spread evenly on the skin. I believe you’ve made remarks about this regarding sunscreen, but it can be applied across all skincare categories. Bottom line is, if it feels “funny”, is hard to apply, or smells “weird” to me, I don’t care what ingredients it contains, I’m not going to use it.

Hi Dr Dray, sorry to bother you with a question that’s unrelated to this video but I could really use your guidance... I suffer from KP and was watching your videos about the same and although I would love to buy amlactin and cerave products, it’s sadly not available in my country... so I was wondering should I apply say yogurt or curd (because of the lactic acid) to help reduce KP or can I buy a proper glycolic acid cream and apply just that on the affected area? I would really really reallyyy appreciate your help! Thank you ♥️

i cant speak to the efficacy of yogurt or curd fo KP

I prefer the Olay sunscreen (UV365), I mix the SPF 15 and SPF 30.. to the Cerave AM sunscreen SPF 30. I just prefer the textures, seem more spreadable to me. I hope it’s not bad lol
