these older motors rooms are very entertaining. so many moving parts to see. matt your filming is excellent. the offset brushes act like brakes on a car.

Nice simple 7039 selector, almost relaxing to watch. Thanks for another glimpse into the magical world of the motor room!

Very interesting indeed, thanks for sharing. The building I used to work in had very similiar but slightly older (late 60s) lifts in, these included the infamous rotating plate selectors. All very Otis. I note a few electronic components in this controller cabinet wheras ours were entirely electromechanical. Sadly there aren't many of these setups left now.
@mrmattandmrchay12 жыл бұрын
yep, there are very few that I don't have. Express U, Otis V, Massive U shaped one for a goods lift, drop key, long drop key, triangular key + a few more.

Oh, and I'd be very grateful for more videos or any other info on how this stuff works. I've been trying to make a working lift 'game' in Blender.

And yes, i would love a part two. By the way: the 15 minute upload limit is long gone. Must have been 2 years ago that it was there.

EPIC MOTOR!
@fklabs68136 жыл бұрын
The motors do have fans attached to them, but I couldnt hear any fan noises. Are they only running when the motor gets warm?
@mrmattandmrchay6 жыл бұрын
Good question and I think you've answered it yourself! From the lifts I've seen, the fans normally run at the same time as the motor. Having a thermostat to control each fan on each motor is just something else to go wrong. So they've either not been worked hard enough for the thermostat to kick in, or perhaps they don't work :) These have been modernised now, so guess we'll never know now!

I've been a naughty boy and uploaded copyright material (music) and "Increased limit not available for this account". I don't really mind as 15 minutes is long enough anyway :)

Im just asking , becuase for textiles in school I will try to do a 'V' key which can be mostly used in old gated lifts... all I know is 1cm on sides and it has 90degress shape ....the thing is when you insert the key to a hole , does it have specifc design (sharp shape) ? or is just flat thing that you have to push inside
@caroleast96363 жыл бұрын
You have to put the key in and then angle it in a specific way to work the lock. It helps if you know how the lock works. My keys were always smoothly rounded at the end, but that was just to save wearing holes in my pocket!

Those are European style geared machines with the ring gear below the worm.
@peterlomas9848 жыл бұрын
+kansasthunderman1 Yes they are 15ATL machines, AT denotes that it is (above traction) 15 is the distance between the motor shaft (fast speed) and the drive sheave shaft (slow speed) the measurements are in inches.
@caroleast96363 жыл бұрын
The 15 in the designation is the pitch diameter of the wormwheel to the nearest inch.
