That screwed up MY christmas BUT made the day for two 14 year olds and 1 15 year old who were glued to my pc big screen watching you !!! So a huge thank you for that buddy :) These boys are learning more from your channel than a year worth of schooling. Stay safe and well Mustie and keep the channel turning on young boys to engineering.

Mustie, you are training thousands of people how to restore a bike so they have something to ride with their friends, excellent for a man and his son or daughter to do together. 15 years ago my 10 years old son wanted a 4 wheeler, so I said he has to learn how to fix it because I wans't . So we bought a Yamaha Warrior in boxes and pieces and he had to do the research to find out how it went together, what parts we needed and if the engine was good. Some of the holes were stripped, so I taught him about tapping and retapping threads, wheel bearings, installation, wiring, battery maintenance, engine rebuild, the whole nine yards. Since then he has been through 4 motorcycles and 3 wheelers. He buys them and fixes them up and uses the profits to buy a better unit. So you are helping to make America great again, LOL, yourself. Keep up the great videos.

Your brakeless, throttleless minibike reminded me. Me and a buddy bought a go cart for $20. No brakes, no throttle, we knew nothing about clutches. We got it running and the engine would run at full throttle, tire spinning, so we'd put it up on blocks, one of us would jump un and the other would push it off the blocks. It would just run wide open throttle until it died or we ran into something. Lol, good times!

As i remember those ST 90's were marketed towards adults as a take along vehicle to have with your camper or motorhome. One of my coworkers back in the 1980's had a pair of them for him and his wife just for that. They were a couple that decided to never have kids of their own so they could travel all over on the weekends and on vacation.

It is nice to see an "older" thing functioning again. It is not about the popularity or the value. It's all about seeing it running again. You don't get to see them anymore because, people didn't see the worth of maintaining them, once the repair cost became too high. People who fixes old things, are becoming a dying breed. Merry Christmas everyone.

Song Mountain near Syracuse, NY used to have the "Alpine Slide" in the warmer months when I was a kid (40+ years ago). Sounds exactly like what you described. Concrete track, sleds with skateboard wheels underneath that defaulted to the brake position. You pulled a lever to make the wheels contact the track. The faster you went, the harder you ran into the kid in front of you who was too scared to race down the mountain. It was a blast! Thanks for bringing those memories back.

Just think, before the internet age you had to have a real background with fixing things, the "heart of a tinkerer" at the very least, but many were afraid and thought basic repairs were beyond their skillset. And now, we have people willingly sharing their secrets and many times they are professional mechanics who, by sharing, are possibly losing business by teaching someone to do their own repairs.

@@Hjerte_Verke many years ago my dad started a pest control business after he was laid off from work. Eventually I and my brother went to work for him. We opened up a store to teach people how to do it and sell them the chemicals. We offered free schooling for it. My dad's premise was right. We taught them how to do it, sold them stuff how to do it, then they went home screwed it up and called us anyway! That was a valuable lesson I learned!

Merry Christmas! Growing up in NY, I had a friend who had started his life in NJ. He would often go visit family there. One time he came home from one of those visits, and he was torn up pretty good, scabs everywhere. Looked like he had been drug behind the family car for a couple of miles. He told us all about Action Park that day. Apparently, he flipped one of those carts, and slid down the concrete tube it rids in for a pretty substantial distance, mostly on his face and arms.

This is, and has always been, my favorite channel. I love the problem-solving approach. If I had one criticism, it's that you should start mild when it comes to cleaning up old parts. The front fender would have come out perfectly with 0000 steel wool but, starting with the abrasive scotchbrite wheel on a power tool resulted in damage. Still love ya, man.

Merry Christmas! A fine grit sand paper, DA or palm sander will take down the foam, even memory foam. It helps for installing seat covers if your use a thin plastic bag over the foam like a really cheap generic trash bag. Also, steaming the seat cover after installing helps for final fit and tightening all your seams up.

Thank you very much for all the years of enjoyment. I have been watching several other youtube channels recently that are mentioning you specifically. One refered to you as the guy decided to buy an ultrasonic cleaner to clean carbs. He read the instructions and it said to use water or ulrasonic cleaner but not dip (like what you use) The guy used water, it did clean the carb but not as well as it should have. His buddy said that YOU put the dip in your ultrasonic cleaner and that worked well. He was going to go back to harbor freight as the ultrasonic cleaner he used was just not large enough for his use. He Mentioned your name as though everyone knew who you were and that what you did was the best way of doing things.

You just brought memories rushing back of Wild Mountain, in Taylor's Falls, Minnesota. I was shocked that they let you loose on something like a mechanic's creeper on a half tube bobsled run. If you didn't apply brake, you would sail into the pines at speed. To keep your sled from going over the top of the tube, you had to lean away and make it run lower. When I then high sided off the sled cart, I got friction burns as I screeched to a stop. Ski hills must be lawyer proof.

I used to work off and on between gigs at an auto upholstery shop. My boss was a master at rebuilding seats and recovering... Even recreating OEM style covers from scratch stitched on a machine. You made the right decision to go with the electric carving knife....we always used them to carve in rough shapes ....we would do the final contour with a wiz wheel or sander....and we also used contact adhesive....but on foam you really don't want to skimp ....a second application was usually used as the first would seal the pores of the foam

When it comes to cutting polyurethane foam with an electric knife, you might help the knife to cut thinner slices by dressing the blade with silicone spray. It really cuts down on the blade getting caught up or struck. By the way, the finished seat and the whole bike look great!😊

I live in germany where the little hondas were sadly only sold as 50's with the 10" wheels (maybe some 70's not sure). I personally own a Honda DAX replica with 125cc's and wonder how much greater it would ride with these big spokewheels, let alone how great those would look on it. But I guess I'd have to get taller suspension and a longer swingarm if there was a way to get wheels like the ST90's here in germany. Great Video and Merry Christmas :D

I saw on tv or the web to use a Thin Hot Electric Wire to shape foam. You insolate the ends and leave the rest of the wire is bare. It can contour better then a carving knife. The carving knife type of tool was also used for basic rough shaping. You have got the correct general idea Mustie.

At 25:00 you spray the fender with aluminum paint. I’ve used the same paint to restore aluminum car wheels that I media blast and clean well with lacquer thinner first…. You wouldn’t know the difference!! Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas! I think folks usually use a hot wire cutter for foam. You can get them cheap at a craft store.

The ride you are describing sounds like an Alpine Slide, which was very popular at many ski hills in the summer. I used to love running down on these,

The alpine slide! I’m sure other people said it in the comments, too many comments to look through. I loved the Tarzan swing and the cannon ball slide!

1:33:20 I believe, Mustie, If I were a mind reader, I'd say you're having the 'time of your childhood life' !!!! Awesome memories, we used to ride in the Dulty's and The Moon (so named for all the pits in it, looked like the surface of the moon from above on the hill) these spots are on the New Jersey side, directly under the PA / NJ Turnpike bridge in Florence, NJ.. We rode there in the 80s and 90s (people were riding there forever before, no longer now it's all govt. warehouses and homes now sadly they took all the land up) anyway wow man.. yeah taking the 80s and 125s out in the snow was ALWAYS a squrelley time!

Hey Dennis. I enjoyed listening about your times in Accident Park. I live near the Meadowlands and I used to go up there in the summer with friends during my high school years. You would absolutely have to test the brakes on the carts used on the Alpine Slide. A few of my friends did not slow down on the high banked curves and wound up paying the price of bruises and cuts and scrapes and friction burns. The documentary on HBO Max stated it was dismantled and reassembled somewhere in the State of Pennsylvania. Never got enough of guts built up to try it again. I am just glad I survived. Thanks for the memories and happy holidays.
