After hours of driving and some hiking we finally made it to this old abandoned mansion with someone quite famous that owned it, this was a stealth mission as there was houses next to it and we didnt want seen, glad we made it inside for you guys to see.
We also came across a hidden tunnel that leads into the mansion but we wasn't dressed for it to go deep into it so we cut that one short, i did find out it was blocked off anyway so it would of been a waste of time.

The mansions/chateaus/castles were all built so well, they could last for hundreds of years if only their roofs and windows would be repaired. Water damage is so detrimental to the deterioration of these masterpieces. Such a shame to see these beautiful places and antiques and personal effects be destroyed. Thank you for the great footage.

Watch for baler cables outside of old houses. Often the cable is connected to a servant bell in the main house but also in out houses and gate houses. If the cable is stepped on or moved it will set off a bell which would alert that someone has moved the cable. Once this happens a pendulum will indicate where the cable movement was detected. Also beside fireplaces there can be bell pulls or buttons, again don't touch those as they will ring a bell and they are very loud . Even if mains electricity is off electric bells in old houses are battery powered and will still function. The mechanical cable operated brass bells will work regardless of electricity being on in the property.

Nobody has lived in that place for over thirty years. I’m surprised that it looks as good as it does. I had never seen the inside before. Love that the service bells are still insitu. Wow. Nice to see how the other half lived. All of the smaller rooms were for maids and servants. The underground tunnel was from the main house. It was only used by servants so that if the Baird and his Lady went for a walk the servants were on hand without being seen to serve the guests also. The notches in the walls in the tunnel is where they kept wine etc ready to serve them. Nice eh. lol. Brilliant video. Thank you for posting.

Gorgeous property--MASSIVE estate! What a MAZE!! I'm no expert on architecture and history but the lower level, original portion of that place looks like an old castle from the 1500's. A few of the rooms reminded me of dungeons. Some parts of the house also had features that looked 17-1800's to me. I LOVED that little room with the brown flowered curtains. The two rooms with the built in cupboards were lovely as well. Very interesting stone work too. And then that tunnel~!!! WOW! Wish you had gone all the way. GREAT explore, but just for future ones, whispering is just annoying. either be silent or talk loud enough we can understand what you're sayin. Thanks for reminding me to add canned beans to my shopping list lol

I can tell you now that Historic Scotland is one of the biggest culprits for the demise of many of these buildings. I used to work for a company that did work for them as a Lime worker. These buildings should have the character retained whenever possible, but where the wooden beams and much of the materials used cannot be replicated in a cost effective manner then modern materials should be used. An example would be replacing an exposed roof beam made of a huge piece of oak that can no longer be obtained as trees this size are rarely felled. Now, Historic Scotland would rather that beam rott out and the roof cave in and further destroy the fabric of the building than allow a modern engineered piece to be put in its place. I call this ignorant vandalism. Modern materials can also be better than traditional if used correctly. I have witnessed Historic Scotlands arse hole attitude to repair and maintenance of these buildings make owners throw in the towel and allow them to rott. Many owners keep them on purpose to allow delapidation to set in so that they can obtain a warrant to knock them down. This allows them to get money for modern development.

You must be a brave person to walk around a place that has the lights on. If it was me I would of instantly thought that with all those suitcases and all that clothing present I would of thought that this person rented the rooms like some bread and breakfast and killed them which accounts for the suitcases and bags and he is still there hiding in the roof so he had no time to turn all the lights off. What was your gut feeling when you first entered the house ?!!

And therein probably lies the problem. Renovation costs would be huge. Maybe some uber rich philanthropist will do that. Or tear everything down and put in a gross golf course like our President Trump (ugh). I believe he was crowing about one in Scotland a while back. Golf courses very detrimental environmentally from what I've learned. Sorry, bit off track, getting old and senile. Lol

It’s always a shame to see mansions like this, left this way. What a beautiful place this has been and could be again, if there was enough investment put into it. It would obviously cost a fortune for the running and upkeep of a building like that. That could be the reason that it was vacated. I hope that this old place can be saved somehow, before it’s too late.

Excellent - big, dilapidated, untrashed, interesting, and well conducted exploration. I know where we are - my family used to net the salmon down where the river meets the sea. I believe there are plans for the house, so I suggest they make it more secure, now that you have given us a tour. I didn't know about the tunnel.

If this mansion was bought by the right people and they brought it up to code, it would be gorgeous!! Those stone walls are so very beautiful. Do you think it’s about 250-300yrs old? My favourite author who wrote Romantic History books was from England and she would describe such manors. Thanks again for making these videos. I really enjoy them!!😊 I could see the tunnel being used as an escape from the Jacobites 1688-1750’s.

Exploring with Alec It is also perfectly tidy and makes good sense, but you could tell a little about when it was built and why it was left behind. We already know that it is in Scotland. But you don't have to come up with revealing information.
