Age-related hearing loss, also called presbycusis, occurs gradually as a person ages. It runs in families and may occur because of changes in the inner ear and auditory nerve, which relay signals from the ear to the brain.

What causes presbycusis?
Wear and tear in ear muscles.
Nerve cells die out or degenerate,
Loss of high-frequency hearing loss.
What are the stages of this condition?
Develop discrimination towards certain words
One can't hear voices distant from 10 ft.
Treatment
Not possible;
Can't reverse old aged wear and tear;
Hearing assessment.
An adequate hearing aid
In what cases does a hearing aid not work?
When there is wear and tear to the ear and brain,
Fewer brain cells are present.
They fail to provide signals or expression.
