My school did that too. They were part of "NED" which stands for "Never give up, Encourage others, Do your best". The woman did some yoyo tricks while talking about a story where some guy gets abducted by aliens or something. At the end they went around and asked a few kids to explain everything in the NED acronym, and then they gave a yoyo to their favorite one. I was one of the kids they asked and I actually won. For the rest of that day and the next I was known by the whole school as the yoyo kid. Pretty cool.

Not you. If the yo-yo is supposed to be responsive (up with a tug) and it's not coming up then yeah something might be wrong. If it's supposed to be unresponsive (not up with tug) then nothing is wrong. Neither is good or bad and works well for different purposes. The responsive is good for tricks involving just the string and the yo-yo being on it's own. The unresponsive is a spinning specialiser they're most of the modern advanced yo-yos good for new tricks involving the yo-yo being on the string and not losing the spin time as fast.

Would love to see more on this yoyo and what you think. I think its amazing how much yoyos have evolved. If im not mistaken, theres a style of play thats exlusive to fixed axle yoyos where you can mount with the yoyo not spinning but when you reverse motion, momentum should get it to spin again.
