Even the guy behind is trying not to crack up as the "rebuilder" talks about how quality Chinese bearings are. Those are scrap bearings, they clean them up and pass them off as "rebuilt". You can actually rebuild most bearings. They are disassembled, and the raceways reground larger, and larger balls or rollers put in to restore factory original tolerances. This was commonly done back in the 1930's and earlier. There was one company that all they did was sell rebuilds. After WWII there was so much excess manufacturing capacity, that there was no longer a market to rebuild anything but very large bearings.

Most folk dont know how expensive these large dimension bearings are, quite often into the hundreds of dollars some are over that, yes enclosed bearings that use spheres once worn or rusted are no use for high speed jobs but are fine for water pumps or transfer power shafts in factories, rollerbearing race and collar bearings as long as play adjustment is kept up they can last for a very long time, good lubrication also helps........thats what she said

I always thought bearings were manufactured to very tight tolerences. Seeing them being hand ground makes a mockery of this. Also, rust damages the metal surfaces, rendering the bearing to be only suitable for scrap.

"BRO" is not a Japanese brand. These are likely Chinese, and marked made in Japan. Chinese bearing makers use "alphabet soup" names. Usually 3 random letters, sometimes 4. (Japan brands are NTN, NSK, Koyo, IKO, SMT..... likely a few other smaller companies...... U.S. and European companies are SKF / MRC, Bower BCA (NTN), Timken / Torrington / Fafnir, NDH (defunct 1986). Any other newer bearing outside of those brands is Chinese. China has no issue not marking country of manufacture, or outright counterfeiting bearings.
