My hats off to these fellows. I lived on an island in the Caribbean for 16 years. I had to work on cars and trucks in the weather. Not cold but hot and wet. I’ve done clutches in a ditch with water running down it. Didn’t stop. Got the job done. I never weld steering components. I cringed when he started welding but after he was done I would feel confident in the bus. It was a good job. These guys probably don’t make much money but they seem proud for what they are doing and a good job that got the man back on the road with a safe vehicle. Cheers from Morrison, Colorado. USA.

Welding a material which you not to suppost to weld on is not safe. Why even had the truck a accident? I guess because of other morons think they can fix everything but they can't.

I love watching this channel, the guys work hard and nothing seems to phase them! Can you just imagine what it would be like if this happens in your own country. In the UK we would have the police attend to control the traffic flow, the local authority would be assessing any damage to the road and get things moving for the repair of the road, either one or two at the most recovery agents would attend to recover the truck to a repair centre for assessment of repair needed and parts required., but the parts manager would come back and report the parts are an order only. And would take a week for them to arrive. The vehicle mechanics would complain that their tools are metric and struggled get sockets to fit, then even trying to get the bolts undone the pneumatic power tools would find it difficult to get the fixings undone. The conclusion that it seems to be more cost effective and quicker than in the UK. Great job guys, you did a excellent job👍👍👍👍👍
@Halibrand
@Halibrand Жыл бұрын
Cost effective and quick is on one part of the diagram, on the other side you find repair quality and safety. The conclusion one could draw from this video is that it would have been done to an higher standard in the UK, the repair would have lasted way longer and would not jeopardise the lifes of fellow motorist going down the road together with an relativly heavy truck with a welded steering arm and main leafsprings. There is a reason why things has changed in the west for the better, Thanks to many of these things the avarage life expectancy is 20 years higher in the UK then in Pakistan. But... its still an impressive job, alot of hard work with simple tools in poor weather conditions.
@TickleThyBrain
@TickleThyBrain Жыл бұрын
Really? That's what you derived? They are not doing it as a solution to all the "problems" you mentioned. It's because they are poor and helpless and can't afford new parts. Stop finding excuses for poverty and stupidity and appreciate what you have in your country. If you really appreciate what they are doing and are planning to shift to Pakistan, all those guys working on the truck will replace you in England. They will even throw in their dress for you.

I thought the same thing. The bracing in the spring eyes works but it puts stresses on the spring in different places. It’s good enough to use till they get new springs and get to a place where they can Jack up the truck and slip in a new mainspring. Not a big deal now. The bracing on the steering arms would work also but they need inspected periodically. It probably drives better than it had in a while.

this is not emergency repair! if it were, it would be just to get the junk out of the road. the repair made here is intended to put this truck back in service. this is pitiful hacking that is a death sentence for driver, fellow drivers and pedestrians. there are reasons for the laws we all have to abide by. in civilized countries such as england and u.s. you are held responsible for killing other people on the highway and if its determined your vehicle is junk you will automatically be responsible. you are not allowed to block traffic while putting a carnival on in the middle of the road, if you pollute with fluids you are responsible for cleanup. some of these guys look like they are scared to death and i have seen some of these videos where some kid is under jacking and you can tell someone on the side has to tell him to put a block under. you do not pay attention to details that could get you or others killed. a very dangerous condition is created when you have toooo many cooks. its highly unlikely this crew all knows what the others are doing half of the time. it looks as though people cut these videos up just for the sake of it, prejudice or because they can. i dont think thats true 100% of the time. people are pointing out very crucial things that show how advanced we are in other countries. thought is put into the rules that protect everybody involved. many of us struggle financially, people are exploited all over the world, but we have access to education, and this is painfully pointed out here in these videos. only one of many examples is you can see the junk jack struggling to lift that overloaded truck. overloading probably caused this menagerie. if they had load limits this would not have happened. you should never weld springs, i would have been more impressed if they welded the axles directly to the frame.

It reminds me of when I was Towing a Ford Expedition, from Jacksonville to central fl. In a rollback. About 2 hours away from home, the truck this wobbling vibration at 70 mph, so I immediately pulled over. I looked around, and found out that I had one wheel stud left on each side in the back., the nuts were backed all the way off on those last two! Yep, all four back wheels just about came off, with a 5,000 lb truck on the back, and doing 70 mph! Well, I'm on the side of I-95 with a 5000 lb car on the back of my rollback, seven broken wheel studs on each side of the truck. So, I put my spare tire and rim under the t-bar, Tilted the hydraulic bed, and that picked all four back wheels up off the ground. Then I use my hydraulic jack to lift up the front end, pulled both front wheels off, knocked out four of the wheel studs on each side of the front of the truck, and with four studs on each front wheel, i put the front wheels back on. I went to the back with my eight new studs, put four studs on each hub, that gave me five studs on each wheel set. Tightened everything up, tilted it back down, and proceeded to drive, with the 5,000 lb truck on the back, all the way back to Melbourne with no problem at all. It was an hour, and a whole lot of work. But it was still better than waiting three or more hours for a record that would be able to pull both vehicles back. It would probably cost a thousand bucks or so, to do so. Changing will set of wheel studs would cost like $100. Yup. my way was better😎👍

The moral of the story is, make sure the shop that's changing your four back tires, actually impacts the tires back on correctly! That's right, we just had four new tires put on the back of the truck, and this happened the very next day.

Well, maybe, maybe not. You probably risked $10,000 in damage at about a 10% chance. So if you kept on doing this, you'd average out a cost of $1000, 9 times success and one failure. About the same either way although calling for a tow wouldn't open you up to tickets or manslaughter charges.

I watched this with fellow feeling. Back in the 1960s my wife and I were travelling to Istanbul in an old Fiat Topolino. Near the top of the Cakor Pass in Montenegro a rear spring broke. Narrow unmadeup road, precipice drop one side and a sheer cliff on the other. Luckily the break was about six inches from the end and I was able to lay a spare strong tyre lever along the leaf and clamp it in place with some bolts and pieces of Dexion. Amazingly this lasted out of the mountains, all around Greece and on to Istanbul. I love these Pakistan repair videos.
