I'm pumped to get one of these. On top of running effects in parallel which is awesome, I'll also be using mine as an effects loop for a couple delays I have. I love the quirks of them but don't like the loss of tone I get when they're in my signal chain. This lets me bypass them when I am not using them!

I use this pedal to route reverb and modulated delay pedals into A and B and both effects are much more defined. The delay isn't getting a reverb wash and the the reverb isn't getting my modulated delay warble. The reverb sounds much cleaner this way too as it's just getting a clean signal.

Just in case youtubes compression didn't communicate it well, running dirt pedals parallel makes your guitar sound huge as hell. Its hard to describe. Its louder yea but its more than that. Like tone wise it becomes a new beast. I got a chase bliss brothers which is two very harmonic but different distortions (A,B) and you can run one into the other either way or parallel. You got a master volume and balance (between the two sides, left more A less B, right less A more B) Each side has a clean boost, drive and fuzz mode too. Its really the only distortion anybody could ever want. But I still want more damnit.

Great demo Eric, I was referred to check out this pedal specifically as I am trying to find a pedal to blend my clean signal with my fuzz pedal and apparently this pedal can do the trick. Do you know if this blend concept can also be done with the Boss LS-2 ? Thx

I see that BOSS line selector also have option for blending signals but it seems it doesn't have the polarity/phase reversal buttons. Is it a common issue? How do I know if I would need that if I want to mix some distortion and fuzz together?
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 3 жыл бұрын
Great question, Michal. The polarity reversal is super handy. Basically the way you know is by trying to reverse one loop’s polarity and evaluate the sound. If it’s nice and full, the loops are in phase. If the sound is really kid scooped and hollow or quacky sounding, then one of the loops probably needs the polarity reversed

Hi Eric, just a quick question. Would running your pedals in a switcher like say for example the GigRig Quarter Master also be considered running in parallel since they're on different loops or does a switcher still run the pedals in series but isolated..?
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Clive, absolutely great question! To my knowledge (I’ve not used the gig rig) loop switchers like the one you’re describing will run your pedals in series while keeping them isolated. There may be functionality to run loops in parallel but from everything I’ve seen on the internet those units run your pedals in series. Thanks so much for watching!

Hi I have a Joyo live 8 channel switcher with the send and returns just as the blender. What's missing from my switcher that stops it from also being a blender? Thanks 👍
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not familiar with that switcher but it might have the ability to act as a parallel blender already. I know that switchers typically turn loops on/off in a series path but some switchers may be able to route loops in parallel. You’d have to consult the documentation for your switcher to see if you can route things in parallel

Hello, great video! Can you tell me how often and which pedals would you need to use the phase interval buttons?
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Aziz! There’s no constant on what pedals need the phase inverted. Many different type of pedals have the potential to be out of phase with other pedals. It’s just something you have to kind of hear and then see if the buttons fix the issue

This gonna sound kinda stupid, but if I had a switcher on my bullet mic, I could use this to put the harmonics through the same modulation chain as the guitar so there's no out of sync modulation garbage to deal with (if you been on stage with two people running different chorus pedals at once you know what i'm taling about) edit: I know using midi to sync up is an option with digital chorus but not with analog)
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! So the answer is yes, you can absolutely use the signal blender to run 2 signals into the one output (which can then go into any number of modulation pedals). However, this will result in your harmonica and the other signal going into the signal blender will be summed into 1 signal in the output of the signal blender. So your harmonica will go to the rest of the signal chain of the guitar/bass that has the signal blender. I hope this makes sense

why is the signal passing through when all LED's are off?
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 2 жыл бұрын
If you’re running a signal into the input and out the output, your observation is correct. When the blue and/or red lights are on, they engage that specific parallel loop. The when the green light is on, you have a dry signal volume control. But when all lights are off, it’s like the pedal is not in your signal chain

I love this pedal except for one major drawback: the 1/4" jacks on the top are way too close together. It's impossible to wire this up with any combination of Eminence pancake jacks and Neutrik jacks. They can't all fit. Most demos/reviews are using straight cables, which are impossible to use on a pedal board. It looks like you're using four different kinds of angled cables to make them fit. It seems as though this was designed and released without sufficient use-case testing. If I want to put this on my pedal board, I'll have to replace all my cables to accommodate it. It would be better to have the ins and outs on the sides to make more room at the top for the send and receive ins/outs.
@EricMerrow
@EricMerrow 2 жыл бұрын
I totally understand that drawback! I think the best bet I’ve found would be to use something like the angled hosa or planet waves patch cords. No pancake cord will work unless it’s something super small like a tour gear designs cable or maybe a solderless type patch cable. Still an absolutely phenomenal piece of gear! Thanks so much for watching and voicing your concerns 🤘🤘

Hi Eric, et'al, Curious to know who else is wondering why did Old Blood Noise gave the "Signal Blender" have such ugly color artwork.....it looks like a kindergartner designed it...okay maybe a 5th grader. I think I’m going to get one but damn it’s god awful looking, imo Green, pink, red, blue on white...vomit. Damn them for making it so ugly, but bless them for making it so wonderfully versatile. Perhaps you and Jason can make a FUZZLORD version, only use black, red, and white color scheme, maybe call it the HELL BLENDER ....... If you do it decide to make one, remember it was my name idea....you can pay me back by sending me one of the first runs.... ;) Thanks bro.

Charles, thanks for watching. I'll have to disagree with your views on the looks of the Signal Blender. Honestly, I know the color combo might not be for everyone but to me it makes total sense. I really appreciate and enjoy the tri-color approach because it lets the player interpret the operation of the pedal visually in addition to reading the labels and notations. To each their own, but I really dig the look. And of course, like you said, the Signal blender is such an incredible tool in any sort of pedalboard or setup! Again, thanks for watching!!
