In "Lucifer" the boys don't have superpowers, but the "smoke" you see is supposed to represent a girl who has devilish powers like Lucifer, who is trying to possess them and take over their lives. As the English lyrics say "her whisper is the Lucifer." So in other words the women or girl they are talking about is so desirable that she is like Lucifer and you have to use all your power just to resist her wiles. In the MV you see them trying to fight against her powers and resist her attempts to try to make them bend to her will, etc. That's why in the choreography they put their wrists together like they are being handcuffed, etc. to show how she is trapping them. Yes this was the era of Teamin with long hair. Many in the fandom were sad when he eventually cut it. A lot of people say that Taemin with long hair makes him look like a girl, but I actually think it is a pretty masculine look on him, not every guy can pull off long hair. But its not surprising that people might thing he looks pretty like a girl -- he is actually known for his androgynous look and for the fact that he can masquerade as a girl and many people wouldn't even question that he wasn't a girl. He became so well known for his feminine looks that one of his solo songs, which features Kai from EXO as the rapper, is called "Pretty Boy." "Pretty Boy" was wrote by Jonghyun, SHINee's main vocalist, specifically for Taemin and its all about the fact that Taemin was tired of everyone just seeing him/them as just a pretty boy, etc. The song is all about how "yes I am a pretty boy but I am so much more than that," etc. Early in his career, when Taemin was growing up in SHINee, he was often dressed up and made to look girly. People thought it was novel and cute to make him play a girl. (And if you have ever seen him dressed as a girl, you would see why. He could really pass as a girl, especially when he was younger.) At this time Taemin's long hair made him the most popular member in Japan because Japanese culture really embraces men with long hair. However, as much as we liked him with long hair, Taemin said after a while it got tiring because in certain situations he had to make a conscious effort to accentuate his masculine features to make sure people took him seriously as a man. He said in certain situations when meeting new people he would make sure to talk with a deeper voice and he made an effort to walk, sit and move like a guy on purpose so people wouldn't mistake him for a girl or think he was too feminine, etc.

Akdksjs I’m sorry I’m late!😭 but to answer your question about TVXQ, they actually debuted in 2003 meanwhile SHINee debuted in 2008:) also, this was the era of questionable hair styles, but also part of the reason I stayed in the kpop world. They are just so unique, the entire kpop scene is, and SHINee was the group that got me into kpop in the first place, along with Super Junior. + long haired dude is Taemin:)

Every time I watch or listen to an old SHINee song it’s like a jump back in time when oppa bling Jongie (Jonghyun) was alive it makes me tear up because I miss his smile and powerful voice but when I listen and watch the present SHINee I know Jonghyun presence is still alive within his brothers and group which makes me happy but still tear up at times. Jonghyun & group web segments that theyve done always make me crack up to tears 😂. When this title track came out there was allot of religious theories about it because of the word being used but it’s not that at all. *Reading between lines* it’s more about a relationship that the guy can’t seem to get away from because the girl is so evilly addictive (like lucifer) since in reality kpop artists can’t be in relationships with anyone without fans getting extremely jealous and Kmedias doing everything they can to get a story whether it’s true or not. Later, the album was repackaged as “HELLO” in October 2010.

I honestly loved Lucifer right away. I'm one of those people who got into kpop because of Shinee; my friend played Lucifer in study hall for me one day and that was it 😂 Sherlock (Clue + Note), Dream Girl, Why So Serious? and Everybody are my recs! Ring Ding Dong (that name kills me every time) is also another favorite but...I'd wait on that one 😂 Like someone else mentioned, it's not everyone's favorite Shinee song, although I personally love it.

SHINee is iconic. The fashion is nuts, but I'm a B1A4 fan and they had nothing but fashion devastation for 5 years so I'm kinda immune to it. I can't listen to Lucifer daily, but sometimes it's the only song I want to listen to, if that makes any sense XD I think what got me into Kpop was Super Junior's 너라고 (It's You), specifically the dance version. I both loved the song (SO UNDERRATED) and the choreo--this was SuJu at pretty much full-strength, and I thought the choreo with a TON of people was super cool.

As for solos, I recommend you White T-Shirt, Lonely and She is from Jonghyun, Want, ACE, Pretty Boy and Artistic Groove from Taemin, Blue from Onew, One of those Nights and Forever Yours from Key and I'm Home from Minho. These are some recommendations, but you should listen to all of them, cuz they are bomb. SHINee is a miracle for the kpop industry, and you will surely fall in love with them.

Back in 2010 comparing to all else that came before and around from the same time, this was top-tier revolutionary stuff so yeah; >got me into kpop, caring about fashion/looks, and dancing as Taemin immediately became my role model; instantly changed all my prior primitive views/behavior on like "long hair is gay, guys can only do this, only girls do that" and so much more >instant 10/10 and still hype af to this day; the way this still holds up & shits on or competes with so many releases in the new generation of kpop >i recommend whenever you listen to this again you blast the volume without any pauses or distractions from the fashion to fully appreciate the instrumentation and harmonies

When I first got into SHINee compilation and introductoryvideos where pretty much none-existing so I can't help you that much with that. I still remember when they where on the show called Hello Baby where the took care of a child and that taught me a lot about their characters. Since they are in SM they have been very active on a lot of different shows so there is loads of content out there! When it comes to SHINee what you have to know was that SM experimented a lot with them so you will see a huge variation of images, cloths, hair, genre, dance... everything and anything that SM wanted them to try they did. A kind of cool fact is at the time when SHINee debuted it was not so normal that the idols where that young so most people in the next 1-2 years that debuted after them where actually older than them. Nowadays it is normal that someone debut when they still aren't an adult but back then it wasn't as common. Since you commented about how you want them to sing different lines at the same time maybe you would like their song Up & Down it is older but still so good, it is a b-track song so there is not a music video that goes with it. I would also love for you to listen to the song Y Si Fuera Ella also known as Heya, if you do react to that please put it more towards the end of the week because it is a really emotional song. It is the only song that was part of any of there albums (not solo-album or soundtrack) with only one member and it was Jonghyun. There is a really famous live-performance of it and I have seen that a lot of people have reacted to it so I don't think you would get a strike from it. I will sort some of their song in "categories" for you Their most iconic songs would be (not in any particular order) Sherlock, Reply (their debut), Why so serious, Dream girl, Everybody, Tell me what to do. SHINee was actually my first introduction into kpop back in high school. My friend was a big fan made us watch their mvs and SNSD. I wasn’t a fan, lol. It wasn’t my taste and I thought the hair/clothes were a little ridiculous. But then about three or four years later I got into kpop on my own through 4Minute, BTS, 2NE1, Big Bang, EXO in 2015. I rediscovered SHINee in 2017 through 1of1 and instantly knew I needed to check them out. Safe to say I’m definitely a fan now. So yeah, their older songs grew on me. I think if you take into account that the styles were experimental even back then, then you can get over it and appreciate the songs and artistry.

Not sure if you know the story behind shinee but sadly Jonghyun (he sang the long high note) lost his battle against depression two years ago (rip angel ❤). Shinee wrote a song for him and it's so incredibly beautiful - it's called "Our page". I would also recommend Sherlock, Ring Ding Dong (it's just so iconic), View, Everybody, Countless and I Want You (a pretty recent one) :)
