Colon was already in very bad shape when I was stationed in the Canal Zone in the 70s, and it got worse over the years when we returned for funerals and family visits. But a friend's mother told us that in her childhood, it was a jewel, and attracted visitors from all over South America and the Caribbean. You could tell from the architectural remnants that it must have been beautiful when it was new and clean, before they neglected the maintenance and ran it into the ground. These photos confirm that. I'd love to see Colon make a comeback.

I always hear my parents talking about Colon of old. I lived in Rainbow City as a child. My oh my, things have truly changed. IT would be so nice if some money was spent rebuilding this beautiful place. It can be done. Thanks for sharing.

We appreciate you sharing this video. We seek your permission to use 30 secs of your video for a documentary we are producing which is based on first Indian migrants to Panama in 1906. These Indians lived and worked in Colon, Panama. They later on got involved in the freedom struggle of India against the British. We will give you the required credits in our video. Or We would also appreciate if you could share some of your archival pictures. Hope to hear from you soon.

H ello to Panamenians ! I like to continus whit the spanish the real lenguage ir Panama. I was told that Colon was a beautiful city, but when it became mostly "West Indian" , the government failed to provide the services necessary to keep it clean and safe, with a well maintained infrastructure.

Every time I see videos and comments about Colon it hurts my heart, because everyone refers to Colon only as it is that little part of Colon province. Always heard that they born in Rainbow City or Silver City ( why I do not know, still it did not make you a born american), well Colon is always being more than just those 3 spots. I am colonense, was born in Santa Isabel ( yeah come coco) more than 68 years ago and grew up in Cocle del Norte and Miguel de la Borda, yes all that and more is part of Colon Province. We hardly ever even went to little Colon city. So today the whole Colon province has advanced except for the little Colon city, Karma is part of life. So get over it

a nice video except the title should be by raymond macht and vicente pascual. all but five fotos are from my collection, family fotos and a sea captain that i bought from his daughters after he passed. this is why i keep a little security on... my fotos. even though you can still right click save. thing is he could of asked and credited me. i would of said okay as i like mauro and his work with the camera we all see. about vicente i can not say much but he is not happy!! see the thing about these kind of stuff is that to own these kind of fotos takes a lot of time, a lot of money and a lot of work. and i share all my fotos however i know tons of collectors who dont, i guess for good reason. the owner of the rest of the fotos reported it to youtube. I wrote Mauro to edit it and just give me credit with no response. now that I see it here as well I think io will report it too. which I really do not wish to do. I got thousands and thousands of dollars in collecting fotos and taking them. and all I ask for to use them is proper credit. now I have over 18000 fotos of cz and panama on my face book page to see them u must be friends with me for security. which as you can see does not work. if you ar a person that is cz or panama I will approve your request.
