Those tailed staccatos or whatever you'd call it, in a live setting, right up in front of those amplifiers is ASTOUNDING. And their timing too, when they play those really complex odd rhythms all in sync, that's not engineering magic and 50 takes, they're really that much in the groove. It's incredible. You mentioned that you thought you heard some counterpoint arrangements between 2 guitars in the solo @14:20, so I just figured it was worth noting that there is actually only 1 guitar in this band, and you were likely hearing the electric violin as the "2nd guitar". The violinist is mind blowing, I didn't realize there wasn't a 2nd guitar until I saw them live and realized most of the times I thought there was a 2nd guitar it was him. There are some songs with more obvious sounding violin solos, but sometimes his play sounds so much like a second guitar. Absolutely amazing band, a bunch of good songs have already been mentioned here but it's just worth sitting through their albums, they are all great.

Bent Knee is a great band that toured with Thank You Scientist. Definitely proggy and polyrhythmic but not as heavy as a lot of the stuff you do. Their guitarist Ben Levin puts out great vids here on KZbin as well. For something heavier I highly suggest Their Dogs Were Astronauts. Get Up is a great song of theirs to look at. They also have one called Contortionist thats a more popular song of theirs, but im partial to the former because its deceptively upbeat and pop-ish.

Saw Bent Knee with Leprous and Haken. It was a great night of bands that are quite different, yet worked really well as a total package. Bent Knee has this chaotic energy around them, but in the way an explosion or an accident looks beautiful in slow motion. It’s not as loud or scary when viewed that way, but the end result is the same. They just always seem to be having fun.

Hey there! Your channel is becoming my favorite reaction channel ever. I love the fact that you reaally know your stuff and the fact that you don't get lost in debating the different meanings the lyrics could have and see the voice as an instrument is a big plus in my book. As humble suggestions i would contribute with Enslaved (Thurisaz Dreaming) Intronaut (Fast Worms) Elder (Embers/Gemini) The Ocean (Jurassic | Cretaceous). Thank you again for your uploads and looking forward on more of them and hope you have a lot of fun doing this!

You found Thank You Scientist, very cool! They've been one my favorites for some time now. I'll stick with my suggestion, Frost's "The Dividing Line". That being said, really just about anything from them is awesome.

I can't believe I missed this reaction. I'm going to see Thank You Scientist with Rivers of Nihil and Between the Buried and Me the end of July in Winston Salem, NC. I love all three bands so it should be epic. I really enjoy your work Geebz!

The guitarist Tom Monda took lessons from virtuoso Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal who has quite an impressive catalog himself. Also someone mentioned The Aristocrats which is another prog fusion band of note, pretty much any of their songs would be worth checking out!

Came into the comments and the top 5-10 songs that people are recommending are some of my all time faves. What a great community you've built for yourself here! This album was my favourite from 2019, followed closely by "You Know What They Mean" by Bent Knee. Would love to hear your reaction to their song "Hold Me In"! Cheers for the wholesome and enjoyable content :)
