The synth arpeggiations you are talking about that start at 13:30 aren't actually a synth but a tapped part on the bass which you can see in Simon Groves playthrough of the song on KZbin. Highly recommend the whole playthrough as it really shines a light on some really interesting details in the song. Loving all the reactions and your approach to the music!

Plini is and may very well always be one of my absolute very favorite artists to see live. Favorite show was probably a small gig he did for Strandberg at NAMM in the side stage of the House of Blues, where at the end of the set Electric Sunrise turned into a 15-minute, 4 guitarist solo medley with some of the special guests (including Per Nilsson of Meshuggah!!) that were out for the convention. Pure magic. Also the bassist that tours with Plini is an absolute monster and I wish he had more recognition.

One of the reasons why I love plini so much is because of his complex arrangements and usage of repeating motifs, even over MULTIPLE albums and eps. There’s something I’d call “The Plini Riff” (a 5 note riff, if you know it you know) that he’s used over all his music, and it’s just incredible how he’s established his sound so much as an instrumental guitarist.

Yes!! Cascade is my favourite Plini's piece. I am aware he has more advanced, intricate compositions but this one just has such a great energy and groove. It's also on my list of songs I use for testing whenever approaching new headphones/earphones. If you like instrumental/progressive stuff one of the bands you might enjoy could be Scale The Summit. Compositions of this band aren't that syncopated, more like clean/smooth melodies, but still kick ass! I have weakness for both The Collective and The Migration (albums), songs such as "Odyssey".

A killer arrangement across every instrument. Plini’s bass player (Simon Grove) is a beast, so good yet knows when to hold back. He is also Plini’s sound engineer on most, if not all of his recordings and gets such beautiful separation. The toned arpeggios toward the end of the track are from the bass player Simon; he's a monster. Keep up the good work my man! Man, I usually don't leave comments on videos, but I'd love to see your analysis of David Maxim Micic's work. His music is very diverse, so it's hard to pick, but a few come to mind: 1. Smile - probably one of his most unique songs and one of very few to have vocals. I've never heard vocals quite like the ones featured in this song, but it gave me chills. 2. Devise - this song has an incredible build-up and solo. It's a strong way to end an album. 3. Nostalgia - this song features a large variety; it feels like multiple songs in one but follows the same context. 4. Who Bit The Moon - another great end to an album with tons of variety, superbly constructed. Though, honestly, his albums are organized as a very nice all-in-one sequence to experience.

On another note: I'd love if you did one of your teaching series videos on what sort of things you're listening for when you're hearing a track for the first time. Another great video my guy. I suggest Sithu Aye - Time to Decide. Very talented musician with complicated arrangements in the same vain as Plini. I'd love to hear you breakdown. (really just any song by him. I found Plini through Spotify radio listening to Sithu Aye)

Fun fact, drummer previously played in Opeth! Also, "Lucidity" is a great introduction for those who like calm Pink Floydy vibes! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIOranR6edZ_f68

Plini is one of my fave modem players. Like a mix of Holdsworth and Petrucci. Two legends. He is amazing the way he LAYERS all his sounds to become a vast expansive sound. No fillers on his cds all great. Another amazing player to check out is Andy James. If you like Satriani and Petrucci think tha kind of mixture. Killer chops/speed. Full range tones and zero filler songs every one is fantastic or EPIC.

Hei man, love this song! Just thought I should tell you something that you may or may not know about youtube so you do not meet a wall with all the well deserved views you have gotten lately. Your channel has recently passed 6 million total views . If only 0,1% (one in a thousand) of those views had something hateful to comment/message about you, your videos or anything else, that would still be 6000 of those views. When you presence grows so will hateful messages and comments. You would not care if one in a thousand people on the street did not like you in real life, please do not put too much thought in to them. Just look at the comment section, people love these videos. Telling you this since I have seen and heard about youtubers and streamers that have gotten quite depressed and even oppsessed with a minority of the people that watch their content. Wish you all well, love your videos. Watching somebody listening to all my favorite music for the first time is a beautiful experience and makes my day multiple times a week. Even able to find new bands trough you! :DD

Love your deconstruction videos, especially on all these prog artists people have been recommending! Very easy to digest! I’d love to hear your thoughts on David Maxim Micic, especially about his ideas for composition and dynamic. Maybe Along for a Ride for his heavier stuff, or Someone Else’s Hat on the lighter side?

I like Plini, because he's an amazing guitar player AND an amazing songwriter. A lot of times, great guitarists are just that,... great guitarists. But Plini is like the whole package.

@Key of Geebz - Great reviews! I noticed you have yet to checkout The Aristocrats -- Bryan Beller, Guthrie Govan and Marco Minnemann -- a prog/metal/fusion trio of prosperous talent. They're a bit more wacky and whimsical in their style than some of the more metal/djent style groups, but nonetheless very entertaining. I'd recommend starting with their first self-titled album, perhaps with Sweaty Knockers or Get It Like That. Guthrie is every bit Plini's elder peer -- tasteful, unique, complete command, zero comfort zone, a musician's musician -- as are Bryan and Marco, especially Marco. His drumming is other-worldly! Have fun, and thank you for the great reactions!

Please try some more from this amazing album! Love your thoughts always - try "Every Piece Matters", "Electric Sunrise", or "Inhale". Great analysis! Edit: just remembered there are some motifs from the songs I listed in this one towards the end! See if you can hear them on future listens!

If you listen to the first 3 Plini EPs in order you get a huge story told through sound; it's an incredible journey. Selenium Forest > Sweet Nothings > The End of Everything Added note: if you like this style, definitely check out David Maxim Micic - really great composition and mixing. Satellite or Daydreamers are good starting songs.

Comment mentioned the bass arpeggio, I think Geebz knows that is a bass and he even "air frets" and does "air bass" afterwards, What I think he's talking about is the subtle keyboard/midi background arpeggio'ish things happening after the bass along with some sort of synth pad. Helps to fill the space and make the ending feel BIGGER
