She does use effects, BUT she doesn’t use any sort of “Pitch Shifter” (to lower tonality) nor does she use Any sort of “Distortion” (to make her voice sound harsher). None of the truly good metal Vocalists use either of the above to raise the quality of the vocalist. They use effects to add dynamics to the sounds, that’s it.

@@GGaby_Dv haha, I want to say this to every reactor that says that, but most won’t understand what I’m talking about. I know the Mighty Decomposing Composer will. 😂 I completely understand the assumption though, simply because of how deep Tatiana’s growls/gutturals are for a woman, but not only that; her petite stature is logically contradictory to the fuckin’ MASSIVE tone that she produces.
@williamcody3415
@williamcody3415 3 жыл бұрын
Eugene answered this a while back. they use distortion in the studio on her voice to smooth it out but not live. they use a delay in studio and live also. she also does use the dredded mic cupping live as a tool to go lower. she just did an interview saying so. she does not use pitch correction or auto tune crap. in studio if you f up just do a retake. and live it is different depending on how she feels.
@trippstephens6934
@trippstephens6934 3 жыл бұрын
@@williamcody3415 yeah, I saw her interview recently. She doesn’t really do a whole lot of mic cupping during their live shows, the only time I noticed her doing that was toward the end of the set because she (and I along with everyone else) are wore the fuck out. I didn’t see the interview with Eugene, but I’ve seen them live a few times; they’re pretty damn close to the album sound (as much as any band is really).
@Module79L
@Module79L 3 жыл бұрын
@@williamcody3415 - Tatiana never said she cups the mic on purpose, it was the guy who interviewed her that made that assumption. She said that she holds the mic by the "head" because she doesn't want to look like an ESC contestant (or something similar) and the grip is better there. Holding the mic the way she does is not cupping. : )

There's so much going on with this band I don't know how anyone could be expected to break down their songs in one sitting, the drummer is so unbelievably good, the bass player is so bloody dynamic, and the guitarist plays such beautiful chord extensions, and that's before we even get to Tatiania's unreal vocals and her excellent performances. I haven't been so impressed with a band since I first heard Soundgarden or Pantera in the 90s.

It's not really any sort of harmonizer or plugin adding to her voice beyond the "standard" echo, reverb, and EQ etc that you do in the mixing process, all the harmonies are separate and they're just layered in the session. The growls are layered (low, mids, and highs usually), there's definitely some doubling, vocal harmonies etc at various points, but they're just punched in during recording like you would any kind of overdub. There's minimum 6 vocal tracks going on here for sure, a main vocal track, a main double, a harmony track, growl low, growl mid, gang vocals, perhaps the growls get doubled too to make them extra big and so you can pan them for some of that wide thickness, and possibly a seventh for the clean passage where the vocals drop in dynamics and a lot of the reverb etc seems to drop with it, but that could be done with automation too. So yeah there's studio magic going on, but not in terms of FX and plugins, more-so excellent mixing and layering skills with excellent source recordings from Tati and the instrumentation! Live she basically has to pick which vocal parts she's going to do since obviously she can't growl and clean sing at the same time, so like on the "mercy, mercy, merciful" line, the first two words are mid-growls, but merciful is layered clean with a growl, which you can do in studio, but live she growls all three words since her voice is sat in that range and she won't have to flip out of it for one word, only to drop back into growls on the next line.

I don’t think he said she USED a harmonizer. I believe he said that in that one section of the chorus, she COULD HAVE used one; that doing so would have made it sound more full.

Breath of fresh air for the Metal scene, lets all face it, we all were getting a bit stale and crusty, just like my 54 year old bones. Been over a decade, since some forward thinking musicians like Jinjer, and other bands who have been doing the underground slog, have finally transformed, and even transcended our favourite music genre. Jinjer are so tight musically, and so talented to be able to switch genres multiple times during a song, they blow me away. Tatiana will inspire so many vocalists, to try and compete at her level, but so will all the other members of the band. Thank you, for your breakdown of this song, and how much you have grown as a Metal connoisseur.

Yeah their studio versions of their music has a lot of layering going on. They even tend to do this during some of their live performances. This song specifically has 2 or 3 extra layers going on. great ear on the whole step down, its drop A on a six string. The engineering on this track is genius, everything gets it own space. It is the same drummer as the Pisces video, to answer your question. It is also very common for harsh vocalists to double or even sometimes triple layer their tracks, for body and punch, and they typically use those same tracks for live performances as part of the backing tracks/effects. Keep the analysis coming, man, great to hear the insight!

Congratulations to the nice reactions you offer to us. I really enjoy this like all others I watched. Please keep on. It’s so interesting to listen to your analysis of the songs. To Jinjer: I totally agree and there are without a doubt layers/effects at different passages of the song. And I like it because it’s the Studio Audio Version of the Song. I’m not sure but I think they don’t layer „too“ much in their live performances- which are incredible. To get an impression of their stage performances you should pick „perennial“ live at Wacken. Also „Who is gonna be the one“ live is a very good example. Merry Christmas 🎁 🎄 to you and your family. Stay safe and healthy. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

My favorite Jinjer song as a huge fan. This slow bridge is my favorite musical moment with infamous Rosetta Stoned bridge. When i hear both, instant goosebumps. AND i heard them a lot lol. Nice reaction as always :)

Also they use effects and this is pretty post produced song. Of course the live performance will be different as vocals(i saw them live last year) but it does not take away from the experience. There is no cheating in their music. Their live is as good as their recordings, different but beautiful in their own sense. I don't know why people obsess over these things. They give us amazing music both as album records and live. Why bother ourselves with these superficial things?

Really good video yet again! You definetly have to check out the one take vocal performance of "Judgement (&Punishment)" and also the live performance of "Perennial" at Wacken. See you in the next one :)

Hi! Most Jinjer songs are tuned in drop A on a baritone guitar and 5 string bass. There are drop C songs, but I can't recall them off the top of my head.

They for sure have backing tracks, that they play or do vocals on. My band was doing this for guitar parts live. Everyone on in ears with click track. Works wonders and sounds awesome...unless you fall off the click, or have a malfunction. Haha. This band is one of my favorites. Loving your content....subscribed.
