Thank you! The tip about pushing the slide in first was great! I have an old cornet I could only get two slides moving on, and the push-in method helped me get the other two started so I could get a little slide grease in there.

You should have left the valves in the casings when working on the stuck slides. The casing can easily become deformed when pulling the stuck slide too hard or in the wrong direction.

Great video! Have you ever tried Ferres J88 Corrosion Cracker Penetrating oil? I use that at work for all the stuck slides especially on Sousaphones.

It would be interesting to know how many hours this whole process takes, and to have a running total going. Have you been keeping track by any chance?

I have not written it down, but I will think back and remember how long it took and then write it down so I can keep track. Thank you for the suggestion.

I would hold off on the paint stripping until I knew I could fix that bell??

All you have to do is submerge the whole trumpet in boiled water for 30 minutes, nothing more. All stuck slides will come out.

What liquid did you use to clean the parts of the trumpet and how much time is left in the liquid.

I used mineral spirits (also known as paint thinner). That is not what I normally use to clean instruments though. It should only be used on silver plated instruments that have been painted. It can be left in the liquid for an hour or so.
