You may want to watch some reactions or breakdowns. This is the end of a long, big rap battle. There is a lot of symbolism that also connects to the other battles. Maybe watch comedian Josh Johnson, " Drake vs Kendrick explained to white people" video for background of the battle first, then maybe review a breakdown of this song or earlier beef songs.

Hi, first time seeing one of your video's and I liked it. If you're a therapist, I highly recommend 'Meet the Grahams'. It's another song from this Drake / Kendrick beef. I don't want to spoil it so all I'll say is, there are some angles a therapist in particular may enjoy. I understand you not enjoying the idea of a beef and the disssongs related to it. But (in case you didn't know) hiphop battles are rooted in the culture and still very much alive today from the ground level to the top. The idea is that on the streets, people that rapped would freestyle but also participate in (basically friendly) battles to hone their skills and prove their abilities. If you got good you'd go around other streets and neighbourhoods challenging the top rappers and trying to make a name for yourself. Or more officially by participating in tournaments and such. Battling is a great illustration of ability, quick thinking and originality. Just imagine not knowing who you're battling next and having to come up with relevant lines that have to be strong too, in order for you to win. This also means that hiphop has that competitive nature inherently in its DNA and therefore, if more well known artists get into it on a personal or professional level, they might get into it on the mic as well. This specific beef being one of the biggest ever, because both are huge global artists and the hype around the beef was as big as it can get. If you however don't want to get into more disstracks, maybe you'd like some 'normal' rapsongs. I don't know how well acquainted you are with rap, but Eminem/Tupac/Notorious BIG/Kendrick Lamar/Jay Z are all great starting points. They are all top-level and have broad appeal. If you want any recommendations feel free to DM. Sorry for the long post, but I have a small technical recommendation. If you could find a way to record the music you're playing through some sort of software (as opposed to playing it through speakers and capturing it through the same microphone that is recording your voice) the audio quality would be greatly improved which I expect will be required for you to grow this channel above a certain threshold. Also, you can capture the video you're watching within the screen your camera is recording. It would be a nice upgrade.

Thank you for your comment. I'm trying to figure out how I can add the video I'm watching to the screen at the same time I'm doing the reaction. I'm technically challenged. LOL!

Seconding the suggestion of Josh Johnson’s video (which is standup comedy by the way). There are a lot of shots in this track that would take research to get, and I don’t get the impression you’re that interested in it (if you feel like doing it though, the website Genius annotates each line of a song to explain references, symbolism, etc.). I will add one thing though. You said “I’m not like them because I can’t dance like them” (I’m paraphrasing, but it was close enough), and yeah, that’s a very incisive comment. A big part of this is that Kendrick says Drake isn’t part of the culture of hip hop, he’s exploiting it for profit while endangering the people involved. The song is dissing Drake, but above all it’s about cultural unity. A few weeks ago Kendrick played the song at a concert and got crips and bloods dancing together on stage: the importance of that cannot be underestimated. It’s a cultural thing, and you and I aren’t part of that culture (which is fine, to be clear). Kendrick (who, for some context, is in my opinion an artist on par with the likes of David Bowie) hasn’t had any feuds with people before: he chose his target and his moment very deliberately. The song 'mother i sober', and the album it’s from, does a good job of showcasing Kendrick’s whole ethos if you’re curious, though I will warn you that it gets pretty heavy.

The back and forth has existed for a long time. Pick an art and you’ll find back and forth rivalries. A lot of artistic rivalries are what would be “sneak disses” in hip hop because they’re “if you know, you know” references to other artists’ works. But hip hop is also poetry, so the elevation of the artistic rivalry has culminated in the diss track which is direct call out. Usually, diss tracks are about being the best because rap is competitive. However, sometimes it’s personal. And Kendrick has some very particular problems with Drake and how Drake operates in the hip hop culture, as well as how he conducts himself as person in general out in the world.

You would benefit from watching some breakdowns of the song made by content creators that have some frame of reference for the song and beef. Respectfully, this song can be enjoyed by anyone, but it was made for people that have a shared lived experience and understanding of black and rap culture. You can’t come in cold and expect to understand what he’s talking about. Make no mistake this beef has been simmering for a decade. It’s bigger than music and wasn’t intended just to make you dance.

She said "dissing on Drake"😂😂- too cute. You just boogie baby - just boogie to it. I know mature and "morally responsible" types will fimd it difficult to dance to the risqué content of the material. But its catchy as hell. Most of us Crip walk to it. Drake and everything he stands for is NOT like us - (real hip hop culture) and that's K-Dots grandmas house in compton. OVO (octobers very own) - drake was born in october. The owl is drake's brand symbol. From owl's perspective it's free - from Kendrick's its caged and controlled. "OVHOE" is a sarcastic spin on the name suggesting the Bia-tch type propensities of their crew.
